Often, those suffering from diabetes mellitus experience an increased feeling of hunger, so you should try to include foods that are low in calories but rich in fiber, such as cucumbers, carrots, zucchini, pumpkin, and cabbage. The body spends quite a lot of time on their processing, which is just enough until the next snack. At the same time, fiber helps maintain blood sugar levels, which reduces sugar cravings.

Diet 9 is a therapeutic food system (treatment table) developed by Soviet nutritionist Mikhail Pevzner for the treatment of mild to moderate diabetes mellitus. Modifications of this treatment table were prescribed for patients with severe diabetes and a combination of obesity and disorders of carbohydrate metabolism. The conditions for using diet 9 in diabetes are normal or slightly overweight and a small need for insulin administration (from 0 to 30 units per day according to the scheme). In addition, this diet can be used for joint infections, rheumatism, bronchial asthma, allergic diseases, diathesis. The goal of diet 9 is to achieve normal carbohydrate metabolism in the body, to provide optimal conditions for the selection of antihyperglycemic therapy. Also, the diet table 9 contributes to the correction of fat metabolism and water-electrolyte state. Thus, following diet 9 can achieve normal levels of blood sugar, cholesterol, reduce blood pressure and edema.

Basic principles of diet table 9

Diet 9 is moderately low in calories. In total, 1900-2300 kilocalories are recommended per day. Energy value is limited mainly by easily digestible carbohydrates and animal fats. It is also recommended to reduce your intake of complex carbohydrates and vegetable fats. Proteins in the diet are not limited, their volume corresponds to the age norm and concomitant diseases. In total, about 100 grams of protein, 80 grams of fat, 300 grams of carbohydrates, 10-12 grams of salt, 1.5 liters of water can be used in food per day. When preparing food, preference should be given to baking, stewing, rather than frying. Sweeteners can be used to prepare sweet dishes. Currently used xylitol, sorbitol, saccharin, aspartame, cyclomat, stevia herb and some other food sweeteners. Food is taken 5-6 times a day in small portions. If the patient does not use insulin, then each meal should be approximately the same in the amount of carbohydrates. In the event that insulin is prescribed, then the amount of carbohydrates can change with the change in the dose of short-acting insulin. Food on diet 9 should contain a minimum amount of extractives, cholesterol and a maximum amount of vitamins, dietary fiber, lipotropic substances.

What you can and cannot eat on a diet table 9

According to this food system, the most preferred foods are those that contain few carbohydrates. From grain products it is rye, protein-wheat, protein-bran, wheat 2nd grade bread, porridge from barley, buckwheat, pearl barley, millet, oatmeal in the range of carbohydrates. Meat and fish products approved for diet 9 are lean meats, rabbit, chickens, beef jelly, lean ham, doctor's sausage, lean fish in boiled and baked form, soaked herring in small quantities. Low-calorie vegetables are especially recommended for patients: cabbage, lettuce, pumpkin, zucchini, cucumbers, tomatoes, eggplants. Taking into account the consumption of carbohydrates on diet 9, potatoes, carrots, beets, green peas are allowed. From fruits and berries, sweet and sour varieties, sugar-free compote (250 ml per day) are recommended. Dairy products can only be used without fat and sugar. Sour cream is heavily limited.

On diet 9, foods rich in simple carbohydrates and animal fats are prohibited. You cannot eat rich and sweet flour products, fatty meats, goose, duck, fatty ham, smoked sausages, canned meat. Of the fruits, those rich in simple carbohydrates are not recommended: grapes, raisins, dates, figs, dried apricots, prunes, bananas, sugar, honey, jam, sweets, ice cream. Do not drink fruit juices, sweet lemonades. Previously, endocrinologists advised to completely abandon semolina, rice, pasta. Today it is considered acceptable to use these products in small quantities.

A sample menu for a week for diet 9 was developed by leading Soviet nutritionists. This menu was used in inpatient therapy, as well as in the conditions of sanatorium-resort treatment of patients with diabetes mellitus.

Nutritional Recommendations for Type 2 Diabetics

First course recipes

Soups for diet food are prepared in a light broth, they do not cook for long. You can add a spoonful of low-fat sour cream to the finished first course.

Mushroom and broccoli cream soup:

  • potatoes - 320 gr.;
  • broccoli - 270 gr.;
  • medium-sized onion - 1 pc.;
  • carrots - 230 gr.;
  • fresh mushrooms (porcini, oyster mushrooms, champignons) - 220 gr.;
  • sour cream - 15 gr. on a plate;
  • water for broth - 1.5 - 2 liters.

Cut the mushrooms and vegetables into strips, divide the broccoli into inflorescences. Pour the products with water, cook at a moderate boil for 30 - 40 minutes. Serve the soup with low-fat sour cream.

  • peeled celery (root) - 80 gr.;

Chop onions, celery, carrots. Finely chop the greens. Peel the fish, cut into pieces. Put vegetables in boiling water, after 10 minutes. add fish and herbs to the pan. Cook for 10 minutes, then turn off the heat, let the ear brew for 15 minutes.

Second course recipes

Diet main courses are prepared with fresh, low-fat products. They are stewed or baked in the oven. Fresh chopped herbs are added to enhance the flavor.

Ratatouille:

  • eggplant - 650 gr.;
  • zucchini - 540 gr.;
  • sweet paprika - 350 gr.;
  • tomatoes - 560 - 600 gr.;
  • greens (parsley, cilantro) - half a bunch.

Soak the eggplants in salt water for 30 minutes to remove the bitterness, then rinse with cold water. Cut the courgettes and eggplants into thin circles (up to 0.7 cm), cut the pepper into strips, removing the seeds.

Boil the tomatoes with boiling water, remove the skin, chop with a blender together with herbs. Put all types of vegetables in a baking dish one by one, pour tomato sauce on top. Cook the ratatouille in the oven for 50 minutes. at t 200 ° C.

Bigos with chicken:

  • chicken breasts - 0.6 kg;
  • fresh cabbage - 1 kg;
  • small purple onion - 1 pc .;
  • carrots - 180 gr.;
  • tomatoes - 450 gr.;
  • greens (thyme, dill, basil) - a bunch of medium size;
  • vegetable oil for frying - 40 ml.

Cut the breasts into 2 cm wide pieces, chop the cabbage into strips. Cut the rest of the vegetables into rings. Finely chop the greens and carrots. Heat oil in a deep container with a double bottom. Fry fillets over high heat for 5 minutes, add carrots and onions. After 5 min. reduce heat to low, put tomatoes and cabbage. Cover the dishes with the dish, simmer for 40 minutes.

Mix ready bigos, sprinkle with chopped herbs, let stand warm for 10 minutes.

Dessert

Table 9 - a diet whose menu for a week prohibits sugar, you can diversify with the help of diet sweets. They are sold in the specialty food section of grocery stores or prepared at home. Sorbitol and xylitol are used to add sweetness.

Pudding:

  • green apple - 100 gr.;
  • carrots - 100 gr.;
  • skim milk - 40 ml;
  • peeled wheat flour - 60 gr.;
  • beaten egg white - 2 pcs.;
  • unsalted butter - 15 gr.

Grate the apple and carrots coarsely, pour in milk and proteins. Add oil to the ingredients, sift the flour. The mixture must be thoroughly mixed, put in a baking dish. Bake the pudding in the oven for 25 minutes. at t 180 - 200 ° C.

Tea marmalade:

  • dry hibiscus tea - 50 gr.;
  • gelatin - 30 gr.;
  • sorbitol / xylitol - 1.5 - 3 tsp;
  • water - 450 ml.

Brew tea with a glass of boiling water, let it brew for 30 - 60 minutes. Dissolve gelatin with a glass of warm water. Strain the brew, add sweetener if desired. Bring the liquid to a boil, add the gelatin and immediately remove from the burner. Stir hot marmalade, strain, pour into a mold, leave to harden for 2 hours.

Eating a healthful diet doesn't mean eating the same foods every day. Table 9 includes a large list of foods, even fruits and desserts. The doctor will advise on how to make a menu for the week so that it turns out to be varied and useful.
