Ham and cheese puff pastry appetizer. Puff pastry roll baked in the oven with cheese and ham

I bring to your attention a fashionable thing: snack pops made from puff pastry with ham. I think many people immediately guessed that this was a play on the theme of cake pops, only snack pops are snacks on a stick (depending on the size, you can use either toothpicks or wooden kebab skewers cut into pieces). Snack pops differ from canapes, which are also snacks and also on sticks, in that they are supposed to be at the top of the sticks, like lollipops. In general, this is just another old fairy tale in a new way, allowing you to serve familiar combinations of products with a new design. For example, these or something similar that many have already seen or tried.

A lot of traditional, but larger snacks, both hot and cold, can be turned into snack pops, not necessarily made from puff pastry and in the form of a roll. But these puff pastry rolls with ham are simply very easy to make and look very impressive. Well, besides, they are very convenient and practical for serving a buffet with a crowd of people. You can make similar rolls with other products (sausage, red fish). In my opinion, it’s better not to mess with cheese - it spreads unpredictably, often turns out ugly, and for small forms in the world of snacks, aesthetics are still very important.

Cut the ham into more or less rectangular pieces.

We set the oven to heat up to 200 C with air circulation.

Place the ham in a continuous surface on the puff pastry, cut a piece from it so that it is 1 cm wider than the strip of ham.

Helping ourselves with paper, we roll up a roll of puff pastry with ham. We seal it with the remaining free edge of the dough; it should be on the outside, not inside the roll.

Using a sharp knife, cut the roll into discs 1-1.5 cm thick. It is convenient to use one disc as a sample for cutting the rest.

We secure the ham rolls with toothpicks, like lollipops, and place them on a baking sheet on top of pastry paper so that the pieces of dough do not touch each other.

Bake in an oven preheated to 200°C with air circulation at medium level for 15 minutes.

Puff pastry rolls with ham can be eaten either hot or cold.

Bon appetit!

Choose the ham that goes into the recipe carefully. When purchasing, pay attention to the smell, date of manufacture and terms and methods of storage. If you want your baked goods to be truly appetizing, follow these rules.

Roll into a roll and cut into small pieces (2-3 cm wide).

Now transfer the blanks onto parchment paper and brush generously with the egg mixture.

Easy to prepare and not at all time-consuming, rose buns will leave few people indifferent. You can prepare them with any filling that you and/or your children like best. This could be cheese, ham, mushrooms, apples, pears, etc. Today I suggest making puff pastries with ham and cheese. Although the choice of filling is limited only by your imagination and your mood. Therefore, I wish you a sunny mood and inexhaustible imagination, friends!

Without rolling, I unroll the puff pastry onto a baking sheet greased with vegetable oil. I forget to buy a silicone mat for such things. Then you wouldn’t have to grease the baking sheet. Next time I won’t start making the roll until I get the mat. I've already I've got my eye on it. Do you friends use such a rug? It's convenient, really.

I distribute it evenly over the entire surface of the dough using a pastry brush.

I cut the ham into slices about two centimeters wide and three millimeters thick.

I place the sliced ham on the mustard-smeared puff pastry.

I grate the cheese and sprinkle it on the ham placed on the dough.

Carefully roll the puff pastry with the filling into a roll.

I grease the product on all sides with egg yolk.

I put the roll in the oven. I bake for 60 minutes at 180 degrees. For the last half hour I cover the roll with parchment.
