Amazing snow with your own hands. Making snow that will never melt! Our new experiment

In recent years, snow has not always pleased us with its abundance and consistency in winter. Whether this is due to global warming or other causes of climate change, in any case we always, especially in winter holidays, I really want to enjoy the view of this white fluffy miracle.

Artificial snow created right at your home can help with this desire. Although it is relevant even with snowdrifts outside the window, with its help an atmosphere of celebration and magic will be in the house if you decorate various crafts and a Christmas tree with it. In addition, such an activity with your child will be a fun alternative to other games.

How to make artificial snow at home?

Of course, you can buy ready-made artificial snow, but if this option seems unsuitable to you, you can always replace it with something. There are many options on how to make artificial snow. At the same time, it will be fluffy, soft, crispy, just like the real thing. And in addition – very fragrant. So it will definitely appeal not only to children, but also to adults.

The first recipe for artificial snow

We will need:

  • 2 boxes of corn flour (starch);
  • shaving cream;
  • glitter (mica);
  • mint extract.

This snow will turn out shiny, cold, fluffy and incredibly soft, like clouds. First, mix shaving cream and starch in a container. This process will take some time, but it will be incredibly fun. Your kids will definitely love the feeling of “snow” on their hands as they mix.

Finally, add a few drops of mint extract to the mixture. In principle, you don’t need to add this ingredient, it will just add another entertaining element to the process of exploration and play, and the snowball will smell simply amazing. For beauty and shine, add a little mica or glitter. From the resulting snow you can make snowballs or make any figures, for example, a funny snowman.

The second recipe for artificial snow at home

For this silky feeling and appearance of snow we will need:

  • several bars of frozen soap;
  • grater;
  • glitter;
  • peppermint extract.

First, put the soap in the freezer overnight. In the morning, we first take out one piece and grate it, then the next one, and so on until we have grated all the prepared cubes.

The result will be a very fluffy snowball, to which you can add mint extract and glitter if desired. This kind of snow molds perfectly, so you and your child can make any figure.

How to make artificial snow - recipe three

For this option you will need the following ingredients:

  • a can of shaving foam;
  • 1.5 packs of soda;
  • sparkles.

Squeeze the entire can of foam into the container, gradually add baking soda and mix. The result is a mass very similar to real snow, from which it is pleasant to sculpt. For beauty, add glitter. This snow feels very soft, cool, smells of frost and freshness.

Winter is in full swing, and although last year's new year holidays have already passed and have even managed to forget a little, winter-themed crafts are still relevant, especially if there are snow drifts. Snow... It’s so good to make an original snowman that you often even want to take it home. However, a snow craft sparkling in the frosty sun will melt in a matter of minutes in the warmth, bringing grief and natural everyday problems. And if so, then let’s get down to business and learn how to make artificial snow, which will delight you and your loved ones, giving your masterpieces a truly fabulous winter flavor! In this article you will learn how to make artificial snow at home.

In fact, there is no one recipe for making artificial snow with your own hands: there are many known methods that differ from each other in the result - the resulting “snow” mass - sometimes quite strongly. However, each recipe has its adherents among craftsmen and can serve decorative purposes in its own style, for certain crafts. In this article we will look at several of the most successful, in our opinion, methods for making artificial snow and frost: we advise you to try each one, choosing for yourself best option(or variations).

For the sake of objectivity, it is worth mentioning that there are special aerosol cans with “artificial snow” on sale, the contents of which very realistically reproduce real snow, as well as corresponding powders and granules for dissolving in water. However, we will not follow this simple, but significantly more expensive path, but now we will begin to roll up our sleeves and get down to business.

Any artificial snow recipe is multi-component in structure and consists of several ingredients, which, when mixed in certain proportions and under certain conditions, give the desired result. Almost all of the proposed options are easy to make in a regular kitchen or home workshop.

How to make artificial snow at home?

Method No. 1

You can get a great sparkling result by mixing cornstarch with shaving cream and glitter. You will have to experiment with proportions to achieve the result you want. If desired (and if available, of course), you can add mint extract when kneading. Suitable instead of starch corn flour, and sparkles are often “replaced” with mica. In any case, the result of your efforts will definitely please you.

Method No. 2

Shaving foam can also be mixed with regular baking soda (sodium bicarbonate, sodium bicarbonate or sodium bicarbonate - they are the same thing, do not be alarmed by the differences on the packaging from different manufacturers). It is important to gradually add it to the foam squeezed out in advance into a suitable container; the resulting white mass, pleasant to the touch, can be “seasoned” with sparkles, achieving the charm of snow sparkling in the sun. Usually one and a half standard packs of soda are required per can of foam.

Method No. 3

Pre-frozen toilet soap grated on a cheese grater looks incredibly believable as artificial snow. Anyone will do variety, the main thing is that the color of the bar is as white as possible. Mint extract and glitter added to the resulting mass will also come in very handy for a greater decorative effect.

Method No. 4

A not-so-cheap and not-at-all-free way (although it depends on who) is to gut an ordinary baby diaper: we only need its sodium polyacrylate filler, which then needs to be torn into small pieces. This is an absorbent material that crystallizes when exposed to moisture and retains it. Therefore, the material extracted from the diaper is placed in a container and gradually poured clean water, just make sure that there is not more than enough to form “snow”. If you have doubts about the harmlessness of sodium polyacrylate, take into account the fact that you took it out of the thing that is most loyal to the baby’s sensitive body - a diaper.

Method No. 5

In nature, snow, as you know, can look somewhat different, while remaining the same snow. This method also offers a slightly unique artificial snow - it is best used to create “snow massifs”, “snow-covered expanses”. You will need ordinary starch, PVA glue and silver paint: just take one equal part at a time (usually it is calculated in the volume of 2 tablespoons, but this is not important) and mix and grind thoroughly until you get the “snowy” mass you need.

Method number 6

This is not really snow, or rather, not snow at all, but “frost”, which may be required to create believable compositions. Sprigs of pine needles, ordinary twigs and grass are covered with a very steep layer for this purpose. saline solution, which, when dry, crystallizes on their surface and shines, just like real frost! And achieving this effect is very simple: table salt coarse grind gradually pour into a container with hot water on the stove over low heat, and when the salt stops dissolving, turn off the heat and lower the pre-prepared plants into the solution. The twigs with future “frost” are infused until the water cools, then they are removed and dried in normal conditions approximately 4-5 hours – you will see the result for yourself!

Method No. 7

Often, to design a “winter” craft, you may need the so-called. "snow paint" To prepare it, let's take the shaving cream we already know (the brand doesn't matter - the main thing is that it is white), PVA glue, as well as the ubiquitous glitter - where would we be without them, and mint extract. Well-mixed ingredients form a characteristic mass, which is applied with a brush or sponge and can be used to either tint a craft or fully draw on a plane, for example, snowmen.

OK it's all over Now. “The Magic Seven” completes our selection of the most available ways making artificial snow to decorate crafts on a “winter” theme, giving them the necessary charm and appropriate color. In fact, there are almost three times as many such methods, however, those presented here will be quite enough to create real masterpieces!

Artificial snow can help you have fun with your child and is also useful for winter crafts. How to make it so that it is quite affordable and simple? We have collected 20 artificial snow recipes for you - try them and share your impressions. Not all of them will completely imitate snow - fluffy, soft, cold and smelling fresh. There is “snow” paint for painting, “snow” slime, “snow” plasticine, and other interesting substances. But all of them are directly related to snow and will definitely appeal to children. And if you need “adult” options for use in needlework, then go straight to.

You can bring real snow from outside, put it in a basin and pamper your children. But this magic will not last long as it will melt in a matter of minutes. To decorate the Christmas tree, window sills, candles and other details, you can use artificial snow, which is easily made at home. In some cases, you can even make snowballs from it. We have collected for you best collection methods for preparing artificial paraphernalia. Let's look at all the options in more detail.

Candles and talc

To make dry snow, prepare glitter (preferably gold, silver, blue or pearlescent). Also place a kitchen grater, unscented baby talcum powder (powder), and several white paraffin candles nearby.

Place the candle in the refrigerator for half an hour or in the freezer for 10-15 minutes until it hardens well. After the time has passed, grate it on a medium-sized grater. To create a shimmering effect, add small glitter to the shavings (color of your choice).

The resulting composition leaves no traces, does not dissolve in water and does not change shape upon contact with it. Typically, this kind of artificial snow is used for decoration. New Year's balls and Christmas trees, painting windows and window sills.

Styrofoam

The easiest and most common way to make artificial snow at home. To do this, get a piece of foam from an appliance or electronics box (they have smaller granules). Place the layer on a flat surface, take a fork and begin to move it vigorously back and forth. As a result, the “grains” will fall off; you need to collect them as they accumulate.

In most cases, foam-based artificial snow looks unnatural. It is used for decoration spruce branches, directly to the spruce/tree itself, window sills, painting balls and filling them, creating small hail and firecrackers.

Paper towels (toilet paper)

Take the white ones paper towels or toilet paper, tear into small pieces. Grind white natural soap into crumbs in a convenient way, place the composition at the bottom of a ceramic or glass container. Place pieces of paper/towels on top.

Place the bowl in the microwave for 30-45 seconds, monitoring the condition of the paper fibers. They should become fluffier and raised. The soap, in turn, will acquire a softer and more pliable consistency.

After the expiration date, take out the mixture, pour in some filtered water and mix everything with a fork. Place in the refrigerator for 3 minutes, then grind again.

It is from this kind of snow that you can sculpt mini-snowmen, play snowballs, and decorate any surfaces and objects.

Eggshell

Boil several eggs with white (not red) shells. Clean them, remove the films. Place in a tight plastic bag, place on a hard surface and grind into powder with a rolling pin. Once the shell is ready, you can mix it with glitter and then start decorating. Artificial snow is attached to spruce/Christmas tree branches using PVA glue and used to decorate windows, creating various drawings. The composition is used to stuff transparent New Year's balls.

Baby diapers

No matter how strange it may sound, artificial snow can be made from disposable diapers or white diapers. The thing is that such attributes absorb moisture due to the sodium polyacrylate contained in the composition. In its swollen state, the drug looks like real snow.

To perform the procedure correctly, remove the cotton-like stuffing from the diaper/diaper. Tear it into very small particles, then place it in a deep bowl. Begin to slowly pour in cold purified water and at the same time knead the resulting mixture with your hands. In the end, you will get a decoration that is difficult to distinguish from real snow. The attribute is used to create snowballs, snowmen, and holiday decorations that involve the presence of peculiar snowdrifts.

Baking soda and shaving foam

Pour the soda into a small bottle so that it is convenient to mix it with other ingredients. Squeeze a bottle of foam into a deep container and at the same time add baking soda, then immediately stir. Proceed intermittently: pour in, mix, pour in again. For 1 can of foam there is one and a half packs of soda. When mixing is complete, place the mixture in the refrigerator for 5 minutes. Then take it out and add glitter for decoration. The peculiarity of this method is that the finished snow smells of frosty freshness if you choose foam with the appropriate aroma.

Polyethylene

Very often, housewives use bubble polyethylene, which is used to wrap household appliances during transportation to better protect the cargo. Take 1 sq. m. of material, twist it into a tight tube, then grate it with fine divisions. Connect the resulting air mass with pearlescent glitter, add 3-5 bags potato starch and some filtered water. Stir until the mixture becomes homogeneous.

After that, dry it on a radiator or in direct sunlight. Shred a little with a fork, then start decorating. The composition looks very beautiful and natural on fluffy artificial Christmas trees and natural spruce trees. To properly attach artificial snow, coat the area to be treated with PVA and then sprinkle it with the compound.

Toothpaste

The method is more suitable for spraying on windows, mirrors, balls, and a Christmas tree. As a rule, a stencil soaked in water is applied to the surface for better adhesion. After this, the voids are filled with snow inclusions. It is necessary to spray very carefully, because the drops fly in different directions. Buy the cheapest white one toothpaste without colored granules. Squeeze half the tube into the container, add a little filtered water to make the composition more liquid and creamy. Dip your toothbrush into it and point it at the object you want to treat. Run your finger upward along the bristles and release to create specks of splatter on the item.

Starch and soap

Grate a bar of white soap on a fine grater and mix it with 3 packets of potato or corn starch. Boil 200-250 ml. water, pour in boiling water into the composition, then beat the mixture with a whisk, forks or mixer until a thick foam forms.

To make snowballs, take a foam ball, dip it in the mixture and dry it on the radiator. If you want to decorate windows or Christmas tree branches with the composition, just dip a toothbrush in the snow and cover the surface with blotting movements. You can dry the mixture and then knead it if you need the snow in powder form.

Salt

New Year's wreaths decorated with artificial snow have become very popular recently. Also, many people do not put up a spruce tree, but decorate the room with its individual branches. As a result, you get a kind of frost. To begin the procedure, take enamel pan, pour 5 liters of water into it and add 2 packs table salt. Place the pan on the fire, stir and heat until the mixture dissolves. When this happens, turn off the stove, put the branches in the container and wait 4-6 hours. During this time, the salt will be absorbed into the needles and form an original snow crust. At the end of the period, remove the branches and leave them to dry for half an hour.

Edible artificial snow

Experienced housewives pamper their children with artificial edible snow. They can be used to decorate festive table, in particular, New Year's, you just need to show imagination and perseverance. To give baked goods fruit salads or other desserts have magic, just pour them over airy cream and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Boiled is suitable for second courses chicken protein, grated.

It’s easy to make artificial snow at home if you have some various ways. Use polyethylene, foam, eggshell, toothpaste, a mixture of shaving foam and baking soda, paraffin candles and talcum powder. Treat your kids to some edible magic with powdered sugar and cream.
