We wind a layer of mastic onto a rolling pin and place it carefully on the cake, unwinding the rolling pin. Press down a little with your hands. Trim off excess edges with a regular knife or a pizza cutter. You can also trim it with a special roller for pasties to give it a beautiful edge.

The edge of the mastic is folded under the cake using a knife or wooden spatula.

We decorate the cake with any figures that you and your children can make from mastic, by hand or using cookie cutters. To make the leaves, green dye is used, the mastic is rolled out with a rolling pin, and the leaves are squeezed out using a heart-shaped mold.

Use a wooden stick or any sharp object to make veins on the leaves.

You can use ready-made flowers, made from mastic or, like ours, waffle roses. You can also make flowers from mastic yourself, we talked about this and showed it in the master class.

To stick the molded figures to the mastic, lubricate their base with cold boiled water. You shouldn’t press them down so as not to dent them; they will attach well anyway. But the waffle flowers need to be carefully inserted into the mastic.

To make our cake shiny and remove excess powdered sugar, at the end of the work, carefully lubricate the mastic with cold boiled water with a brush. We inserted ready-made store-bought wafer decorations in the form of roses onto the mastic leaves.

All that remains is to make an inscription and the wedding anniversary cake is ready!
