Cheese sticks.

The Olympic Games are in full swing and all channels are broadcasting sports competitions. We continue our own Olympics of dishes, with which the television viewing of “Roast. Winter. Ours” becomes not only exciting, but also delicious.

Today our hockey team begins its path to the gold medal, so groups of fans will gather in many houses to watch the first game. The question is, how can you root for hockey without beer? Surely most fans have already stocked up. Of course, you can buy chips, nuts and other snacks to go with beer. But with such nutrition, by the end of the Olympics you can get gastritis :-) Therefore, we offer you a recipe for a wonderful snack - cheese sticks made from puff pastry.

Preparing them is absolutely easy, the main thing is to buy puff pastry in advance and defrost it.

The second important ingredient is cheese. We took two types of cheese - Parmesan and cheddar. They are both very bright and when combined give the sticks a rich flavor.

If desired, you can sprinkle with ground black pepper and other spices to your taste.

To prepare beautiful sticks wrapped in a spiral, the dough does not need to be rolled out, or rolled out only a little. To prevent the tasty bright ingredients from falling off when baking the sticks, lightly grease the dough layer with olive oil, sprinkle with your favorite spices, grated cheese and press them with your hands, like would be "pressing".

That's all the secrets of making cheese sticks from puff pastry.

We wish you a pleasant viewing of sports competitions in Sochi. And our hockey team - an Olympic gold medal!

Cheese sticks

Ingredients:

  • Puff pastry without yeast - 500 grams;
  • Parmesan cheese - 50 grams;
  • Cheddar cheese - 50 grams;
  • Olive oil for greasing the dough.

How to make puff pastry cheese sticks:

Step 1

Lightly grease the dough with olive oil. You can roll it out a little, but remember that the layer must be thick, otherwise the sticks will not be able to be rolled into a beautiful spiral.

Step 2

Three cheese on a fine grater.

Step 3

Sprinkle the dough with cheese, freshly ground black pepper and press the layer with your hands, as if “pressing” the cheese.

Step 4

Cut the dough into even strips. Each strip, 3-4 cm wide, is rolled into a spiral and placed on baking paper.

Step 5

Bake the sticks in a preheated oven at 220 degrees for 15 minutes until a beautiful golden color.

Today we have almost a Sunday cinema: friends will come in the evening to watch some interesting film together. Good friends, a long-standing tradition, but lately we have been getting together, alas, less and less often: work, children... But we don’t give up! And that’s why today we’re having a get-together after work and, hopefully, after we put the kids to bed. But then... then we have a really awesome movie waiting for us and puff pastry sticks. Usually I prepare some more sophisticated and complex snacks, but today I won’t have time, I have a lot of things to do that won’t allow me to stand at the stove, so on the way home I’ll just stop at the supermarket, buy a couple of packages of puff pastry, and make it at home minimal preparations and bake delicious crispy almost breadsticks!

In general, everything is so simple that you could indulge in such treats almost constantly. The package of puff pastry must be removed from the freezer in advance and defrosted. If you bake sticks from unthawed puff pastry, the products will not rise properly and will be hard and not crispy.

Usually puff pastry does not require additional rolling, however, contrary to the recommendations that are written on packages with the finished product from most manufacturers, I still slightly roll out the puff pastry after defrosting. This way, after baking, the products come out lighter, more tender and crispy.

After defrosting, the dough should be greased with water or vegetable oil - to do this, I simply slightly moisten my hand (drop a small amount of oil onto my palm) and “smooth” the surface of the dough. If you don't do this, most of the sprinkles you plan to flavor puff pastry sticks, will crumble.

I sprinkle the dough with something tasty and aromatic. If necessary, I “pass” the rolling pin again - to slightly press the grains, seeds, nuts and other bulk components into the dough.

After this, I cut the dough layer into strips. If you wish, you can take a figured knife - this way the edges of the sticks will look more beautiful and interesting.

I'm baking puff pastry sticks in an oven preheated to 200 degrees for about 15-20 minutes, I focus on the color of the finished product - it should be golden, ruddy, slightly brown and very attractive!

Possible toppings for puff pastry sticks:

Sesame, black sesame;

Sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds;

Flaxseeds;

Black cumin, anise;

Finely grated hard cheese;

Olive oil, garlic, Provençal herbs;

Coarse sea salt;

Finely chopped nuts;

Oat flakes, bran;

Finely chopped sun-dried tomatoes;

Coriander;

Fennel seeds;

Pepper and paprika.

Easy experiments for you, pleasant evenings and crispy sticks!

Making puff sticks with cheese and sesame seeds.

Appetizing, with a pronounced cheese taste, light and very tasty - puff pastry sticks with cheese are an ideal snack if you have unexpected guests, if you want to have a quick snack or drink coffee. They go great with beer and are a good alternative to bread or snack cookies. These sticks can be prepared with the addition of cumin, coriander, ground black or red pepper, rosemary, ground paprika, etc.

  • Yeast-free puff pastry-500g.
  • Hard cheese-200g.
  • Egg - 1 pc.
  • Milk-2 tbsp.
  • Sesame-2 tbsp.

STAGE 1

Thaw the finished puff pastry at room temperature. Sprinkle the table with flour and roll out the dough into a rectangle to a thickness of 3 mm.

Separate the egg white from the yolk. Mix the egg yolk with milk. Using a pastry brush, brush the dough with a mixture of yolk and milk.

STAGE 2

Distribute the grated cheese evenly on the dough.

STAGE 3

Fold the dough in half, cheese inside, and lightly press the dough with your hands.

Cut the dough into rectangles approximately 2 by 16 cm.

STAGE 4

Roll the dough strips with cheese into a spiral.

Place all the cheese sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Grease with a mixture of yolk and milk

STAGE 5

Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for 25 minutes until golden brown.

BON APPETIT!

Step 1: Prepare the cheese.

You can use any brand or variety of cheese, as long as you like it to your taste. So, use a grater with large holes to grate the cheese onto a plate or cutting board.

Step 2: Prepare the dough.

Take the defrosted dough out of the package. Sprinkle a flat surface with a small amount of flour and place the first sheet on it (there are usually two of them in 500 gram packages). Using a rolling pin, roll it out into a layer measuring approximately 25 by 30 cm.
Wash the egg under hot running water, break it into a cup or other convenient container and beat with a fork until smooth. Then add salt, ground black pepper and beat again.

Now, using a special kitchen brush, brush the dough layer with egg, sprinkle with half the cheese, lightly press it into the dough (you can use a rolling pin, but not too much) and cut the layer with a sharp knife into long narrow strips about 1.5 cm wide.
We do the same with the second test layer.

Step 3: Form the dish.

We cover the baking tray with baking paper, carefully twist each strip and transfer it to the baking sheet. It is not necessary to twist the strips, but the end result will be a more beautiful and appetizing dish. The dough will increase slightly in size during baking, so place the strips at a short distance from each other.

Step 4: Bake the cheese sticks.

Bake the dish for 15 minutes at a temperature 190 degrees. Then turn each cheese stick over to the other side and bake some more. 2 - 3 minutes until a beautiful golden crust forms.
Remove the baking sheet with the finished cheese sticks from the oven and leave to cool.

Step 5: Serve the puff pastry cheese sticks.

The dish is served warm as an appetizer for the holiday table or as a tasty addition to delicate cream soups, and cheese sticks are also a pleasure to savor with light alcoholic drinks.
Bon appetit!

Along with ground black pepper, you can use other aromatic spices, such as rosemary or thyme.

Cheese sticks turn out even tastier if you add a tablespoon of water and a tablespoon of tomato sauce to the beaten egg.

You don’t have to use just one type of cheese; you can combine several to suit your own taste.
