Chocolate ice cream from the barefoot countess. Lemon Chicken from the Barefoot Countess

This is the recipe of the great Aina Garten. Her husband simply adores chicken, and for many years Aina has been able to delight him with excellent dishes from this seemingly ordinary bird.

It is this recipe of hers for chicken and lemon that is very popular in the states. And this is not surprising. The ingredients available and the simple steps to follow give great results.

The chicken turns out to be beautiful, incredibly juicy and tender. It is very difficult to resist and not eat it whole in one sitting. Even if there are only two of you for one chicken.

INGREDIENTS:
for 4 servings

Whole chicken - 1 piece
Carrots (large) - 1 pc
Bulb onions - 2 pieces
Garlic - 2 heads
Lemon - 1 piece
Butter - 30 gr
Olive oil - 1 tbsp
Sugar - 1 tbsp
Salt, pepper - to taste

Peel the onions and carrots and chop coarsely. We clean one head of garlic and disassemble it into cloves.

Cut the lemon lengthwise into 6 pieces.

In a large baking dish, combine the onions, carrots, garlic and half of 3 lemon wedges.

Salt, add a tablespoon of sugar and olive oil. Mix well, distributing spices and oil over all vegetables.

Wash the chicken and wipe it dry thoroughly with a paper towel or napkins.

Salt inside the abdomen. We also send the remaining 3 slices of lemon and a head of garlic there. Garlic must first be washed and cut across.

We tie the chicken legs with a culinary thread. This is necessary so that the chicken retains its shape and juiciness during baking.

At this stage, we ask all those who carefully follow the figure to leave the room. Evenly coat the entire chicken skin with melted butter.

Salt and season the outside of the chicken.

We wrap the tips of the wings back. This way they will not burn.

Place the chicken on top of the prepared vegetables, breast side up. We bake on the lower tier of the oven at 200 degrees for about 1 hour.

Take the finished chicken out of the oven and immediately cover it with a layer of foil. Let stand for 10-15 minutes.

This time is needed so that all the juices soak into the flesh of the chicken, and not leak out at the first cut.

Have you ever wondered why going to a fancy restaurant is so expensive? Not only because of the exotic ingredients, but also because of the chef's reputation. They can make tons of money running the kitchen of high-end restaurants or starting their own. If a chef has a corporate identity, cookbooks, TV shows, then he becomes mega-popular, and his capital can exceed a million dollars. Need proof? Please - here are the top richest celebrity chefs.

At the luxurious Bellagio and beyond

Opening our top ten is Texas-born Todd English, a $ 11 million chef. He received a good professional education (graduated from the Culinary Institute of America) and built his culinary kingdom. He has more than a dozen luxury restaurants, including Beso, which serves Latin American cuisine (co-owned by actress Eva Longoria). But the most famous restaurants in English are called "Olives", the opening of the first (in Boston) took place in 1989, and now there is one in Las Vegas (at the Bellagio hotel). The chef also has his own show - "Food Trip with Todd English", in which Todd, together with the audience, penetrates into the secrets of national cuisines of different countries.

Top class Italian cuisine

Since 2011, Mario Batali “settled” in the ABC TV program “The Chew”. This is a unique TV personality! He is unassuming in clothes and prefers to wear his "lucky" fleece vest and shorts. But at the same time, Mario has money - chickens do not peck (13 million dollars). Batali managed to raise Italian cuisine to a completely different, higher level. His restaurants are scattered not only across America (California, Las Vegas, New York), but also around the world, including Hong Kong and Singapore.

Goddess of Home Cooking

Briton Nigella Lawson can be called the goddess of home cooking. Her eyes and magnetic voice are just the tip of the iceberg, she is actually a very talented culinary specialist. Born into a wealthy family (her father was a member of the cabinet minister under Margaret Thatcher), Nigella was not content with the role of a sexy rich bum. She has written several books (not only on cooking) and has been the star of several shows, including Simply Nigella, Nigella Express, Nigellissima. This is where the 15 millionth state of the TV personality came from. Although she doesn't like being called a famous chef (Lawson has no special education, she cooks "for pleasure"), we will still include her in our rating.

"Scandalous" Paul

With the name of another "Tele-Provarih", the floors of Dean, the scandal is connected.: She was fired after ten years old work on the channel "Food Network" because of the accusations of racist statements (the leader used the word "black"). The gastronomy promoter of the South of the United States was not taken aback and opened her own culinary channel. If you have 16 million dollars "for your soul", you can afford it! Paula's recipes were repeatedly criticized for the abundance of fat, salt and sugar (by the way, she herself is a diabetic), which did not interfere with Dean's career, who was invited to the jury of the popular Top Chef and MasterChef programs.

Barefoot Countess

Since 2002, Aina Garten has hosted her show Barefoot Contessa (named after Aina's grocery store). Garten did not study to be a chef, she learned all her knowledge, gaining experience from others and spying on recipes in cookbooks. She worked in the White House, but left this place to open a store in New York, and then began writing books. Now the store is closed - 68-year-old Aina, who has $ 44 million, is investing all her energy in TV shows.

Creole recipes

Emeril Lagassi, a graduate of the prestigious culinary school, has a net worth of $ 50 million. This chef appeared on television in the early 1990s and is now hosting his gastronomic show on the Cooking Channel (now in its fourth season). Emeril calls his cooking style "New New Orleans", uses Louisiana ingredients and is inspired by Creole cuisine. Lagassi has 13 restaurants, all of them bear his name, so if you want to drop by, you won't be confused!

Oprah Winfrey Culinary Thelemire

Rachel Rae is the Oprah Winfrey of Culinary Thelemir. Ray now has not one, but four of her programs. Moreover, two of them ("Rachel Ray" and "30 Minutes Meals") received the "Daytime Emmy" awards for the best talk shows (three wins out of eleven nominations). Rachel makes about $ 25 million every year - from shows, cookbooks and advertisements, and her net worth is $ 60 million. Ray has a special style - she does everything quickly and easily, one might say, playfully. The style and her smile are inspiring, and it is not for nothing that Forbes has included Rachel in the Top 100 Most Influential Celebrities in the World.

Empire of Pak

Wolfgang Puck's mother worked as a pastry chef, so he got acquainted with the world of culinary in his youth. It was then that he decided that he wanted to devote his life to this sacred rite. Unlike colleagues from this rating, Pak does not have his own show. But how can the official caterer have free time for the Academy Awards? True, he has been a guest on many programs, including Top Chef, MasterChef and Iron Chef America. The Wolfgang Puck Companies culinary venture (which includes 25 gourmet restaurants) is profitable for the owner, reaching $ 75 million in net worth.

Hellishly talented!

If you saw the program "Hell's Kitchen" with Gordon Ramsay, could you decide that the chef is ruthless and does nothing but send curses to negligent participants? No, this is just a show, in fact, he is quite an adequate person. Ask the kids who competed at MasterChef Junior! They adore Gordon. Scotsman Ramsay wanted to become a famous footballer, but in 1984 he was injured and hung his boots on a nail. He returned to his studies and studied hotel and restaurant business. Now Gordon owns 118 million dollars and three dozen restaurants around the world, and the very first (opened in 1998 in London) was awarded three Michelin stars.

Legendary Naked Chef

The manner of casual communication with the audience, which was demonstrated by the British Jamie Oliver, and the popularization of "live" home cooking have borne fruit. With a capital of $ 235 million, he is at the top of the list of the richest celebrity chefs. Numerous author shows ("The Naked Chef", "Jamie's Kitchen", "Jamie the Chef", "Jamie at Home", "Jamie: Comfortable Food" and so on) enjoy the incredible love of the audience. Admit it, you also watched the episode or two of "The Naked Chef", Jamie is such a sweetheart! Today, Order of the British Empire Commander James Oliver has five restaurant franchises. In 2002, he opened a non-profit restaurant in London, where 18 unemployed young people intern every year.
