Recipe for rice porridge with milk in a slow cooker. Rice porridge in a slow cooker

The multicooker or miracle oven has become a popular gadget in the kitchen. She controls the entire cooking process and produces truly delicious food. Rice porridge in a slow cooker is a dish that both adults and children will enjoy.

Rice porridge can be prepared crumbly or soft. It all depends on what you will cook from rice next. If crumbly porridge can be added to salads or used as a side dish, then soft porridge can be eaten with various gravies or milk.

    4 multi glasses of water

    1 tsp salt

Brief preparation:

    I rinse the rice thoroughly until the water runs clear.

    I put all the main ingredients into the multicooker bowl and mix.

    I turn on the required mode.

    I add butter and turn on the “Heat” mode for a few minutes.

If you decide to prepare milk rice porridge, then for 1 multi-glass of rice you need to take 5-6 multi-glasses of milk.

To get fluffy rice that can be added to salads or used as a side dish, you need to take 1 multi-cup of rice and 2 multi-cups of water.

There is another proportion in cooking rice in water. If we take 1 serving of rice and 1 serving of water, we will get the rice that is used to make the roll.

Regardless of what type of rice we need, whether we cook it with water or milk, the preparation is always the same.

I prefer long rice, although for milk porridges it is better to use round rice.

Be sure to wash the rice.

Add water.

Salt to taste.

Add butter.

Turn on the “Rice” program for 30-35 minutes.

After the beep, leave the porridge for another 20-40 minutes.

Rice porridge in a ratio of 1:4 is quite soft. You can see this in the photo.

It should also be said that different types of rice absorb different amounts of liquid, which must be taken into account during cooking.

This is where my secrets for cooking rice porridge in multicookers end. It would be interesting to hear about your experience of preparing this type of porridge in a slow cooker. I hope this topic will be useful to everyone who has just begun to master this type of technology.

There is nothing complicated about cooking porridge in a slow cooker, especially since the pan itself will carry out all the settings. Our task will only be to wait for the result. As a side dish, cook rice in water, and sweet porridge tastes better with milk.

Let’s immediately agree that we always wash the cereal until it’s clear.
Remember that when washing, part of the liquid is absorbed by the rice; this is important to take into account when calculating the proportions. I always wash it several times: at t - 40 C, and then hotter - at t - 60-70 C.

Soft and sweet raisins go very well with tender rice.

  • Types and benefits

    For almost 300 years, rice has been on the table because of its taste and beneficial properties. Our great-grandmothers cooked porridge in ordinary pans, and you and I will use a high-tech assistant.
    In addition to protein, there are many amino acids, fats and carbohydrates. It is also a storehouse of minerals and vitamins. So even those who don’t particularly like rice will agree with me that eating it is simply necessary.

    Smart multicooker pan: features and capabilities

    There are two types of this smart electrical appliance: a multicooker and a multicooker - pressure cooker. The difference is that the first type does not retain steam inside the bowl, unlike the second, so food cooks faster in a pressure cooker.

    Choosing a multicooker for yourself

    It’s up to you to decide which multicooker to choose – plastic or metal. Plastic is both cheaper and lighter than metal. The pan bowl is made of aluminum, stainless steel or ceramic and has a non-stick coating on the inside.

    Therefore, it must be handled carefully, not dropped or scratched. When choosing the volume of the form, be guided by the number of members of your family. It’s good when a multicooker has many programs, then you can endlessly comprehend different methods of cooking in it.

Today I will tell you how to easily and simply cook crumbly rice porridge in a slow cooker.

As I already said, porridge always turns out in a slow cooker. Just cook special varieties of rice that are easy to make crumbly. For the purity of the experiment, we will take the most common cheap round rice.

Each multicooker model comes with a measuring cup, it’s really very convenient to use, you always know the proportions exactly. I have a rather large family, so when I cook porridge, I usually take 3 measuring cups of cereal (mine is 160 ml). So, I measure out 3 cups of rice cereal.

Everyone knows that cereals must be thoroughly rinsed with running water before cooking. Once upon a time, I read in one of the old cookbooks that cereals need to be washed with seven waters. True, this information concerned millet, but since then I have washed all cereals this way. Moreover, I start washing with cold water, then warm, then hot. I make sure that after washing the water remains clean and clear. Then I think that the cereal has been washed enough.

Pour the washed cereal into the multicooker bowl and pour cold water. Although they say that rice is cooked in proportions of 1:1.5, I cook based on the fact that for every 1 serving of rice I take 2 servings of water. This means that if I use 3 cups of rice, then I need 6 measuring cups of water.

Immediately add salt, desired spices (I did without them today) and butter.

I would like to say more about butter. I admit right away that all previous times I cooked porridge without oil. It turned out great - fragrant, crumbly! And butter, if desired, can be added directly to the plate when serving. But today I decided to try to make the “correct” porridge, the same as described in all the books, and added butter. What to say? I did not like! The porridge turned out less crumbly, a little more viscous. I understand that it’s difficult to please everyone here, everyone has their own taste, but I think that this nuance of preparation needs to be taken into account.

So, mix everything and put the bowl in the multicooker. Always turn the bowl counterclockwise once to make sure it is in contact with the heating element.

Now all that remains is to select the cooking program. My model has a special program “Fig. Cereals." Some multicookers have “Porridge” and “Buckwheat” programs; read the instructions carefully and select the appropriate program. I adjust the time manually, usually it is about 30-35 minutes.

All! So simple and quick: measure out the required amount, wash the cereal, add water, add salt and put it in the slow cooker. Now we can relax while the smart unit works for us.

As soon as the multicooker signals that the program has stopped working, you can immediately set the table - delicious crumbly rice porridge is ready! You can serve this porridge with any meat or fish dish. Or you can simply enjoy the taste of real rice porridge. We really like to season the porridge with spices (curry, paprika, a mixture of herbs and peppers - choose to your taste).

Bon appetit!

Rice milk porridge with pumpkin is a delicacy for real gourmets. The sunny color of the dish lifts the mood and gives warmth, which is why it is most often prepared in the cold season. Traditionally, round white rice is suitable for milk porridge. It cooks faster and better. But if you wish, you can experiment with a brown, unrefined product. In this case, the dish will turn out more useful. In addition, it is worth using a few more secrets:

  1. Before cooking, be sure to rinse the rice several times until the water is no longer cloudy or whitish. This means that starch and gluten have been removed from the grain.
  2. You can prepare milk porridge either with pure milk or with the addition of water. But in the first case, the cereal will take longer to cook, and there is also a risk that the porridge will burn, since the milk boils away faster. When you add water, the rice softens more and cooks faster. Depending on the desired result, you should adhere to the proportions and take 1 part of rice:
  • for thick porridge - 2 parts water and the same amount of milk;
  • for medium thickness – 3 parts each of water and milk;
  • for liquid – 4 parts water and the same amount of milk.
  1. To obtain a more delicate and uniform consistency, the finished porridge can be additionally crushed with a blender, rubbed through a strainer or punched with a mixer. This is especially true if the dish is intended for small children.

Milk rice porridge must be flavored with a very small piece of good butter. Then the taste will become even more tender and softer. By the way, to get an interesting taste, you can add vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg powder to the dish, and sugar can be replaced with honey or condensed milk. The porridge turns out to be especially original when adding raisins, dried apricots, fresh or canned fruits and even vegetables.

Calorie content of milk rice porridge

What determines the calorie content of rice porridge with milk? Naturally, it depends on the total number of calories contained in all ingredients. So 100 g of rice boiled in water alone has 78 kcal. If milk of medium fat content (up to 3.2%) is added to the dish, then this figure increases to 97 units. When adding butter and sugar to porridge, the calorie content of the dish increases accordingly. And if you throw another handful of dried fruits into it, the figure will reach 120–140 kcal per 100 g of milk porridge.

Rice milk porridge in a slow cooker

You can forget about burnt milk porridge if you cook it in a slow cooker. Everything is quite simple, you just have to put all the necessary ingredients into the bowl and press the “Start” button. The smart machine will do everything for you.

To prepare delicious rice porridge with milk, we will need the following products:

Rice cereal - 1 measuring cup;

Milk – 3 measuring cups:

Water – 2 measuring cups;

Butter is added to taste, as well as salt and sugar.

Cooking rice milk porridge in a slow cooker

To prevent rice from sticking during cooking, it should be washed first. I prefer to use steamed rice; it is cleaner and does not form a “paste” when cooked. We washed the cereal, then put it in the bowl of our multicooker.

Now pour milk and water there; the latter can be replaced with the same milk if desired. This proportion of liquid is given for a thinner porridge; if you like it crumbly, you should take one glass less milk or water.

The butter can be added now or before use. Salt and add a little sugar, without it the taste will not be the same.

Now we proceed directly to the cooking process, or rather, the multicooker begins it. The lid must be closed, after which we select the “Milk porridge” mode on the display and set the time to 1 hour. Now you can do different things and wait for the readiness signal.

When it sounds, open the lid and see if the porridge is too thin and if all the milk has boiled down. In this case, you can still cook it for a while, just for a very short time, 10 - 15 minutes, this will be enough.

The porridge in the Brand 502 multicooker turned out amazingly tasty, just like from childhood. It also tastes like rice milk porridge cooked in a pot in the oven. And if you add butter to it, it will be absolutely incomparable. I really like eating it with a bun spread with the same butter. Porridge is very high in calories and you can’t eat a lot of it, so we can say that one glass of rice can feed the whole family.

Rice porridge in a slow cooker is perhaps the most common dish that is prepared when trying out a new kitchen assistant. There is nothing complicated about rice porridge, but you should know a few techniques that will allow you to easily and with guaranteed results prepare a fragrant, satisfying, tasty porridge for breakfast or dinner. If this is your first time cooking in a slow cooker, our tips will help you cope with this task.

  • For rice porridge, you should use round-grain rice; it cooks better. Long grain or parboiled rice is good for a side dish or rice soup when the grains don't stick together. Rice porridge should be “greasy”, steamed;
  • If you cook rice porridge with milk, always add water to the milk in a ratio of approximately 1:3. This will not affect the taste, but the milk will not escape through the valve;
  • There is another way to prevent milk from escaping from the bowl: take a piece of butter and grease the sides of the bowl;
  • If you decide to cook rice porridge on a delayed start (in the evening), freeze some of the water or milk and put it in a bowl along with the rest of the ingredients. Even on the hottest night, the milk will not turn sour, tested!
  • Rice porridge can be cooked without milk. In this case, add fruits and berries (fresh or dry), vegetables or meat to it. Please note: rice porridge with meat is not pilaf! The technology for preparing pilaf, including in a slow cooker, is completely different;
  • In different multicookers, the “Porridge”, “Milk porridge” or “Cereal” modes work differently. The more powerful the device, the less time allotted for cooking. In Panasonic multicookers with a power of 500 W, the “Milk porridge” mode is extended for an hour, or even more. If you cook a large amount of porridge, the cereal may remain slightly undercooked. Set the mode again or leave the porridge in the heating mode for an hour and a half (of course, you need to take this into account when preparing the porridge on time so as not to be left without breakfast). Powerful multicookers can easily handle any amount of food;
  • If your multicooker has automatic programs, you usually do not need to set the cooking time. However, there are units that provide the ability to adjust the time, regardless of the type of program. As a rule, the cooking time for milk porridge in such multicookers is set to 25 minutes. Feel free to double it - the porridge will turn out much tastier and softer;
  • The most delicious rice porridge in a slow cooker is obtained with a delayed start. Check it out for yourself!
