  • Orange Peel Jam   Recipes

Jam from orange peels You should never throw away the seemingly inedible elements from citrus. It is better to make jam from orange peels and please the family with a new original treat. Ingredients: Orange - 3 pcs. Sugar - 300 g Water - 300 ml Lemon juice - 1 tbsp. l Preparation: 1. Take oranges: wash them thoroughly, then pour over boiling water (imported fruits are always processed with special substances for long-term storage) and cut into 4 parts each. We use the pulp for its intended purpose (just eat or cook something else), but cut off the inner white layer from the peel. He is bitter, so you need to get rid of him. 2. Peel the oranges peeled from the white skin and cut into strips. Fill with cold water and let them get wet for several hours, and even better during the night. In the process you need to change the water several times. This will definitely save future jam from possible bitterness. 3. During the time (in the preparation I wrote 5 hours, but in fact it can be two days - depending on how much you will soak the crusts), spent in the water, the crusts will curl up a little - and this is good for us. 4. Drain the water and prepare a strong thread and needle. We put a thread in the eye, which we fix on the end. And now we wrap each crust with a spiral and put it on the needle, stretching it to the end of the thread. It turns out pretty long beads. 5. Put our orange beads in a saucepan, fill with water and cook over medium heat 20 minutes after boiling. Then we drain the hot water and again fill the beads with cold. This procedure needs to be repeated 4 times. 6. Then we take out the orange curls on a thread and let it drain water. 7. Pour 300 ml of water into a saucepan and add sugar. We put on the fire and bring the syrup to a boil. We put the beads in it (it is better to immediately remove them from the string, otherwise it will stick to your hands) and cook on medium heat for about half an hour. 8. Let the orange peel jam cool completely. Then add lemon juice and boil again

  • Orange peel jam   Recipes

Jam from orange peels Ingredients: Orange - 3 pcs Water - 400 ml Sugar - 300 g Citric acid (half an incomplete tsp) - 0.5 tsp. Ginger (root, for an amateur. You can not add) - 10 g Preparation: Oranges are thoroughly washed, doused with boiling water (in order to wash off the wax that is applied so that the orange does not deteriorate during transportation) and clean it in any way convenient for you. I cut the peel in the center so that I got two hemispheres. Then she cut each hemisphere in half and each part into three more strips. If the orange is thin-skinned, the inside can be left, if the thick-skinned one is removed a little from the inside, so that the curls are easier to wrap and they are neater. My oranges were thin-skinned, so I didn’t take off the inner white part - I photographed it for a sample. Fold each piece of the peel into a tight roll and thread it like a bead. The thread must be pulled tight so that the curls do not unfold. Pour orange beads with cold water. Change the water two to three times a day. Soak the peel for 3-4 days, until the peels are soft and no longer bitter. It’s even convenient - you can add peel as you eat oranges, so the soaking period can be extended by two to three days. After this, crust boil 3-4 times for 15-20 minutes, each time changing the water. After each boiling, rind should be rinsed with cold water. I did it very simply - boiled the kettle and scored cold water into a bowl. Boil it for the first time - put the beads in a bowl of cold water, poured fresh hot water into a saucepan and put the peel back there. And so several times. Now you need to weigh the peel. I took three oranges - it turned out exactly 200 grams. The proportions for jam are - sugar is 1.5 times more, water - twice. If you do not have weights, I give other proportions: for 10 oranges - 1 kg of sugar, 1-1.2 liters of water and 1 tsp. citric acid (or juice of half a lemon). I read such proportions in another recipe, but I did it myself
