Cheese puffs made from ready-made puff pastry are an extremely simple, quick and very tasty dish. I used to make these only when there was a need to use up leftover puff pastry that didn’t have enough filling. The shaping option was the simplest - roll out the dough, place a piece of cheese on it and pinch the edges. And everything would be fine, but my husband kept complaining that such puff pastries only smell like cheese, and the cheese itself melts during the baking process and becomes almost invisible. And then I decided to slightly improve the filling, as a result of which these puffs with cheese came out from ready-made puff pastry. The recipe makes 12 triangle puffs. The filling contains two types of cheese and some herbs. The baked goods turn out very, very cheesy and incredibly aromatic!

Ingredients:

  • hard or semi-hard cheese – 200 g,
  • Adyghe cheese – 150 g,
  • ready-made puff pastry (preferably yeast-free) – 500 g,
  • greens - optional, I have dill about 80 g,
  • egg – 1 pc.,
  • sesame seeds - for sprinkling.

How to make cheese puffs from ready-made puff pastry

Both yeast and yeast-free puff pastry are suitable for making puff pastries. In the first case, the puff pastries come out softer and fluffier, in the second - more layered and crunchy. In my opinion, yeast-free baking is more suitable for unsweetened baking, so that’s what I took. Place the squares of frozen dough on a lightly floured work surface and leave them until completely defrosted, be sure to cover them with something so that the surface does not dry out. I left the dough on the kitchen counter, where it defrosted completely after 40 minutes. If your finished dough is not in layers, but in a roll, it will take a little more time to defrost. Plus, you will need to monitor the dough and unroll the roll as the top layers defrost.

It won’t take much time to prepare the filling, so you can do it after the dough has defrosted. Grate hard cheese on a coarse grater. Any one you like will do. I have this cheese “Russian”.

Now add some fresh colors to the bowl of cheeses - chopped fresh herbs. I use dill, but you can add any green herb to your taste.

Mix the filling thoroughly and you can start forming the puffs.

Take one layer of dough and roll it out thinly, making sure that the rolling pin moves in only one direction. This way the dough will retain its layering to the maximum. Here's how I do it: Place the rolling pin in the middle of the square and roll it up and down until the desired thickness of the dough is reached. I got somewhere around 3 mm.

Cut the rolled out dough into squares, I got 6 squares. Place cheese filling on each square. Adjust the amount of filling to your taste, I like there to be a lot of filling.

We form a puff pastry. I made triangles.

We pinch the edges of the puff pastry first with our fingers, then to be sure we “go” along the edges with a fork. If the fork becomes fussy and sticks to the dough, you can dip it in flour. One “bathing” is usually enough.

Place the formed puff pastries on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. If there is no paper, leave the baking sheet as is, no need to grease it with oil!

Brush the triangles with beaten egg, sprinkle with sesame seeds and place the puff pastries in a preheated oven for baking.

Bake at 200 degrees, determining readiness by browning the tops of the puff pastries.

Bon appetit! Eat with pleasure!

I recently posted a recipe for cheese sticks. Crispy, spicy, salty - they are great as a snack with beer. Today I want to share a similar recipe for cheese puffs, more classic, so to speak. This is a very simple and quick recipe for making puff pastries for those who love. The puff pastries turn out very tender and simply melt in your mouth. You can make puff pastries in both large and small sizes to use as a snack. We will bake puff pastries from ready-made purchased puff pastry, which you can prepare yourself if you wish. It's easy to prepare, but it turns out very tasty and beautiful.

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg of purchased puff pastry;
  • 200 g hard cheese;
  • 1 egg;
  • 2 tbsp. white or black sesame seeds;
  • a pinch of salt and pepper.

Cheese puffs recipe

1. Completely defrost the purchased dough, leaving it in a warm place in the kitchen for 40-60 minutes. Then lightly roll out the soft elastic dough on a floured surface. We try to maintain the rectangular shape of the dough.

2. Grate the cheese on a coarse grater.

3. Break the egg into a deep bowl and beat with a mixer until foamy.

4. Brush the dough with egg using a pastry brush.

5. Cut the rectangle of dough into 2 approximately equal parts. Since store-bought dough is unleavened, it should be lightly salted and peppered. Place the cheese on top of 1 part in an even, not very dense layer.

6. Carefully cover the part of the dough with cheese with the part of the dough without cheese. It's okay if there's cheese peeking out somewhere. Lightly roll out the resulting layer.

7. Cut into 2 parts again.

8. Grease one part with egg and evenly place the other part of the puff pastry with cheese on it. Roll out a little and press down so that the layers are fastened together.

9. Cut into equal rectangles.

10. Place on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper, slightly trimming the edges.

11. Brush the top with the remaining egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

12. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees, then place a baking sheet with puff pastries in it. Bake for 20 minutes.

The puff pastries can be removed while they are hot, or you can let them cool. It's not an acquired taste here.

Tender and crispy cheese puffs are ready! Help yourself, bon appetit!
