1 Ingredients for stewed cabbage.

2 We start by preparing the chicken hearts. We remove the remaining vessels and films from the heart. Cut each heart in half. We carefully examine each half and remove blood clots from them.

3 So we cut each heart, remove the vessels, veins and blood.

4 Rinse the heart halves under running water.

5 You can soak the hearts in water for 15-20 minutes.

6 Cut the onions into feathers.

7 Grate the carrots.

8 Transfer the hearts from the bowl of water to a colander.

9 Sauté the onion.

10 Add grated carrots to the onion.

11 Place chicken hearts in a frying pan with the onion (with carrots) and fry. Bring the hearts to a light golden color.

12 Cut the champignons into large pieces.

13 Place the mushroom pieces in the frying pan and mix with the remaining ingredients. When fried, champignons release juice. Fry over medium heat until the liquid evaporates. When the liquid evaporates, the mushrooms will brown slightly.

14 Now you can add the cabbage. Cut the cabbage into thin long strips.

15 If the frying pan in which the vegetables with hearts and mushrooms were fried has a thick bottom, then continue cooking in it. Throw the chopped cabbage into a frying pan (or cauldron) and stir.

16 Pour one tablespoon of water into the cabbage.

17 After adding spices, cover with a lid and simmer for 10 minutes.

18 Then add tomato paste according to the recipe. Simmer under the lid closed, remembering to stir, for another 30 minutes.

While the vegetables are roasting (about 10 minutes), prepare the hearts. Trim excess fat from the hearts and cut them into two pieces. Place the hearts on top of the vegetables and cook until the end of the cycle. At this point, lightly salt and season the ingredients. Preparation


  1. Most heart dishes require pre-cooking: the heart needs to be thoroughly boiled in spices, and then continue cooking, adding other ingredients. And our dish is no exception. So first we rinse the heart well, squeeze it out and put it in a colander to drain the excess liquid. We look carefully to see if there is any blood left inside the heart. If it remains, it will cook and rise into a thick foam in the water, which is very undesirable. Place the washed heart in a saucepan, fill it with water and add allspice and bay leaf. When the water boils, you can salt the heart. After boiling, cook for at least an hour, and then check the readiness with a knife.
  2. While the heart is cooking, you can prepare the cabbage. We remove the top leaves from the head of cabbage (they are usually the most dirty), wash the vegetable and cut it on a cutting board.

  3. Place the cabbage pieces in a large bowl and mash them with your hands. This way, the cabbage becomes more tender and can cook faster.

  4. Peel the onion, wash it and cut it into half rings. If you like rings, you can cut them with them too.

  5. Remove the cooked heart from the pan and cool. At the same time, do not pour the water out of the pan: it will still be useful.

  6. Place a frying pan on the stove and pour in vegetable oil. Lay out the cabbage and onions, stir them, cover with a lid and simmer.

  7. Meanwhile, cut off all the fat from the cooled heart. Cut the heart itself into cubes.

  8. Add heart pieces to cabbage. Cover the pan with a lid and continue to simmer. When the cabbage begins to stick slightly, you can pour half a glass of the liquid in which the heart was cooked. Simmer until the cabbage is completely cooked (the heart is already ready), at least 15 minutes.
  9. Stewed cabbage with veal heart is suitable for both dietary nutrition and for beginner eaters who are just trying out different foods. If your baby still cannot eat pieces of heart (after all, they need to be chewed well), add a little boiled water to the stewed cabbage with heart and turn this mixture into puree.
