Homemade shortbread cookie recipe with margarine

Ingredients

  • Margarine or butter – 80 g
  • Flour – 250–300 g
  • Kefir – 2/3 cup
  • Baking soda – 1 tsp.
  • Sugar – 160 g
  • Vanilla sugar or vanillin - 1 packet or on the tip of a knife
  • Nutmeg – ½ teaspoon
  • Ground cinnamon – ½ teaspoon

Cooking method

  1. Pour kefir into a bowl, add sugar, vanilla sugar, baking soda (there is no need to quench the soda, kefir will do this). The recipe for shortbread cookies with margarine in molds is so simple that even children can handle it. Sharing chores in the kitchen and shaping cookies with cookie cutters will bring you closer and unite you, while entertaining and educating you at the same time.
  2. As you can see, the quenching of soda with kefir has begun and the liquid in the bowl began to bubble. Add melted butter or margarine to kefir and mix until smooth.
  3. Add spices to the mixture of ingredients - cinnamon and nutmeg. I add a lot, ½ teaspoon at a time, then they can be clearly heard in baked goods.
  4. Adding sifted flour little by little, knead the shortbread dough. You can do this in a bowl, I knead it on the table. The dough should be homogeneous, mold well and lag behind your hands.
  5. Roll out the dough on the work table using a rolling pin and cut out the cookies using cookie cutters. If you prefer crispy cookies, roll out the dough to a thickness of 0.5 cm. If you like shortbread cookies according to the recipe with margarine, crispy on the outside and softer on the inside, then you can roll it out lightly, to a height of 1 cm or even higher.
  6. Line a baking sheet with parchment and place the cookies on it. Bake until golden brown on top in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for about 20 minutes.
  7. Transfer the warm cookies to a bowl and place the next batch on the same baking sheet.
  8. Cookies can be decorated with icing, melted chocolate or powdered sugar. Serve with tea or coffee, and with warm milk or kefir at night, this dessert will become your children's favorite treat.


When kneading shortcrust pastry, maintain the proportions of fat and flour. If you put less margarine or butter than the specified amount, the dough will be tough and the cookies will not be crumbly.

Homemade cookies

Ingredients

  • flour: 3 cups;
  • margarine for baking: 180 grams;
  • chicken eggs: 2 pieces;
  • sugar: 200 grams;
  • baking powder: 2 grams;
  • vanillin: half a teaspoon.

Cooking method

  1. Cut the margarine into pieces and combine with sugar in a microwave-safe glass saucepan. Place the saucepan on heat and melt. Stir, add baking powder, cool slightly. Add eggs, beat until smooth.
  2. Sift a glass of flour into the resulting mixture. Add vanilla, stir until smooth. Sift the remaining flour again and knead the dough, which will be soft but crumbly. When the shortbread dough has cooled, separate a piece from it and place it on a sheet of parchment, cover with a second leaf on top.
  3. Roll out the dough between the parchment into a layer. Then remove one sheet and cut it out with a cookie cutter or cup. Do the same with the rest of the dough. Transfer the pieces to a baking tray lined with baking paper. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the cookies for no more than 15 minutes.


Raisin cookies

Ingredients

  • margarine - 150 g;
  • granulated sugar - 4 tablespoons;
  • egg yolks - 1 pc.;
  • baking powder - 0.5 teaspoon;
  • vanillin - 0.5 teaspoon;
  • raisins - 80 g;
  • salt - to taste;
  • flour - 400 g

Cooking method

  1. Wash the raisins, then pour in hot water to steam them. After 7-8 minutes, drain the water, tip into a colander, let the water drain, and spread out the raisins to dry.
  2. Melt margarine in a frying pan.
  3. Now add salt to the yolk at the tip of a knife, add half a teaspoon of baking powder and the same amount of vanillin and beat it all very well.
  4. Pour the melted margarine into a cup, add the ingredients mixed in the bowl, add 4 tablespoons of sugar and beat everything well until the sugar dissolves.
  5. Add flour to the dough and add raisins, previously steamed and dried.
  6. Mix the whole mass very well. The dough is ready, set it aside for a few minutes.
  7. Prepare a cutting board, sprinkle with flour and transfer the dough onto it.
  8. Roll it out to a thickness of 0.6mm and press it out with a cake basket.

  9. Transfer them to a baking sheet greased with sunflower oil and place in a preheated oven. Oven at 200 degrees.
  10. Sprinkle the finished cookies with powdered sugar on top.
