Cut the onion into very small cubes. Set aside 4 tbsp. l. mayonnaise. Peel the boiled carrots and eggs, cut them into small cubes. Mix carrots with egg and herbs with mayonnaise. Heat the swollen gelatin in the microwave for 5 seconds without boiling, and pour into the mayonnaise.






Everything is ready for assembly. In a long narrow dish (herring box) place a wide strip of cling film so that it hangs wide on all sides.
Lay one part of the herring fillet on the bottom of the herring box. Pour half of the resulting mayonnaise mixture on top. Then lay flat two plastic cucumbers, sprinkle half of the total amount of red pepper on the cucumber. Now pour the remaining mayonnaise mixture, put two more plastic cucumbers on it, on the cucumber - the rest of the sweet pepper. And finally, lay the second part of the herring fillet on top of all this splendor. Now ask you for help, because you need to contrive and wrap all this splendor in a roll, first bending the film along the long side, then twisting it from the ends. Peel the apple from the peel and seeds, cut into small cubes, and immediately pour over the lemon juice.

Classic herring recipe with onion-carrot marinade

Ingredients:

Delicious recipe - herring salsa with bread crumbs

This gourmet recipe features mango, cucumber and rye bread.

Ingredients:

  • herring fillet - 400 gr.
  • mango - 1 pc.
  • fresh cucumber - 2 pcs.
  • red onion - ½ pc.
  • fresh cilantro - ¼ cup
  • chili pepper to taste
  • lime or lemon - 1 pc.
  • black pepper
  • rye bread - 3 slices
  • butter - 20 gr.
  • salt to taste

Line a baking sheet with paper. Grind rye bread into crumbs with your hands or a food processor and mix with softened butter, salt a little. We send it to the oven preheated to 190 ° C for 15-20 minutes. After the bread is baked, it is advisable to grind the crumbs again with a blender.

Cut mango, cucumber and onion into small cubes. Add chili pepper and chopped cilantro to taste. Mix everything and pour over squeezed lime or lemon juice.

When I tried to cook herring according to this recipe, I was convinced that the herring cooked with such an unusual marinade turns out to be very fragrant and refreshing.

Ingredients:

  • herring fillet - 300 gr.

  • red onion - 1 pc.
  • For marinade:
  • olive oil - 8 tbsp. l.
  • nutmeg - 1 tsp
  • cilantro - 1 tsp

  • soy sauce - 1 tbsp. l.
  • wine vinegar (light) - 1 tbsp. l.
  • juniper berries - 5 peas
  • lemon pepper - a pinch

Holiday sandwiches with herring

Ingredients:

  • herring - 1 pc.
  • processed cheese - 100 gr.
  • pickled mushrooms - 50 gr.
  • dill greens
  • tomato - 1 pc.
  • rye or wheat bread of your choice

Consider the recipe step by step.

Grind pickled mushrooms. Remove melted cheese from the refrigerator, it should be at room temperature.

Put herring fillet (both halves) between cling film and beat off a little.

Grease the fillet with melted cheese, put chopped mushrooms on the cheese and sprinkle with dill.

Now the herring needs to be wrapped in cling film, try harder. For reliability, you can wrap in several layers of cling film.

You will get two long herring rolls. Send to the refrigerator, and even better in the freezer for a couple of hours.

During this time, prepare the bread. Cut out circles of bread with a glass and brown them for 5-6 minutes in the oven at a temperature of 180 degrees. Turn off the oven and keep the bread in the oven for a couple more minutes.

Cut herring rolls into portioned circles about 1 cm thick.

Stuffed champignons

An original appetizer that will surely surprise your guests.

  • herring - 1 pc.
  • fresh champignons - 20 pcs.
  • onion - 1 pc.
  • carrots - 1 pc.
  • red sweet pepper - 1 pc.
  • thyme - 1 tbsp. l.
  • salt, pepper to taste

  • mayonnaise - 50 gr.
  • dill

In this appetizer, cut all the ingredients into thin plates. Chop the avocado and immediately pour over the lemon juice so that it does not darken. The appetizer is immediately placed on a serving plate. We put a thin layer of beets down, herring on top, grease with mayonnaise. The most unexpected dish that I tried for the first time in Lithuania was fried herring. This dish is traditionally prepared for Christmas in the Baltic States, Belarus and Poland.

Ingredients:

  • herring - 4 pcs.
  • onions - 3 pcs.
  • lemon juice - 1 tbsp. l.
  • breadcrumbs - 4 tbsp. l.

Remove the ridge and small bones from the salted herring fillet. Straighten the fillet, you can lightly beat it off, roll in breadcrumbs and fry on both sides in sunflower oil until a beautiful golden crust.

Herring cake is convenient in its serving - here both bread and herring are immediately, it remains only to cut into portions.

Ingredients:

  • herring - 250 gr.
  • red onion - 1 pc.
  • rye bread - 400 gr.
  • garlic - 4 cloves
  • butter - 100 gr.
  • Philadelphia cheese - 1 box
  • sour cream - 200 gr.
  • gelatin - 10 gr.
  • salt, pepper to taste
  • greenery for decoration

We prepare the cake in stages. Grind the bread with a blender, add the garlic passed through the press. Melt the butter, pour into the bread mass and mix well. Place half of the bread mass in a cake mold, compact a little and refrigerate.

In the meantime, dissolve gelatin in warm water and cool slightly.

Cut herring fillet and onion into small cubes, add sour cream, cream cheese, salt, pepper. Pour gelatin into this mass and mix well. Put half of the resulting cream into a mold on a bread base and refrigerate to harden.

So repeat again, i.e. put the bread mass on the frozen cream, cool and cover with herring cream on top.

Decorate to your liking.

Herring rolls in jelly

Ingredients:

  • herring - 4 pcs. (should make 6-8 rolls)
  • onions - 2 pcs.
  • carrots - 2 pcs.
  • any vegetables - sweet peppers, boiled cauliflower, chili tomatoes, green peas, etc.
  • water - 1 liter
  • sugar - 1 tbsp. l.
  • gelatin - 2 tbsp. l.
  • bay leaf - 3 pcs.
  • black pepper pot

Gelatin pour 125 gr. warm water, let it swell. Heat gelatin until dissolved. Boil the remaining water, add sugar, bay leaf and pepper. Cut the carrots into slices and throw into the boiling marinade. Boil for 5-7 minutes, pour in vinegar, gelatin, stir and cool.

This dish looks beautiful in the shape of a ring. Put the herring rolls there. Between the herring place carrots, vegetables, greens. Pour over the cooled marinade and refrigerate overnight.

In the spring, when you want to cook something special for the holiday, you can build an appetizer from the three most popular ingredients that resembles a bouquet of the first spring flowers. Our favorite salted herring will play the main role, and cheese and egg layers will very organically frame it. Be sure to use green onions! It is softer and more delicate in taste than onion, and in combination with cheese it will only win.   • For a herring snack, we need hard-boiled eggs. Boil them for no more than 7-9 minutes so that the yolk does not turn blue from being in boiling water for a long time, as it will come in handy for decoration in a bright yellow hue. Try to cool the boiled eggs according to all the rules so that the shell can be removed entirely without damaging the protein. We also need the protein from one boiled egg to be even and beautiful for decorating and creating a flower arrangement at the very top of the snack.
  • Next, we act traditionally and proceed to cutting all the components: we mill the herring, we get two pieces of salted herring without bones, cut them into cubes 1 by 1 cm.
  • We rub the cheese, a very beautiful cut is obtained on a Korean grater.
  • We cut the green onion feathers into small segments, while leaving the dill whole for decoration (especially if the serving is delayed until the next day!).
  • After boiling, we get three or four hard-boiled eggs. One egg is divided into boiled yolk and protein. Cut out small even circles from boiled protein with any round object / notch / cap from a felt-tip pen, etc. From these circles of small diameter we will form primroses for decoration. Chop the rest of the eggs with a knife.
  • For cheese and egg layers, mix cheese, chopped eggs, black pepper, green onions in a bowl.
  • We fill the whole mass with mayonnaise and sprinkle a little with a quarter of a lemon.
  • Mix and taste for salt. Since the cheese can be quite salty, and the herring itself in the recipe is taken at least lightly salted, it may not be necessary to add salt at all.
  • To decorate the snack, take a round small shape, line the sides and bottom with a film. You can take a molding culinary ring, in this case you can do without cling film. Spread half of the cheese-egg mass along the bottom, tamp.
  • On the cheese and egg layer, lay the herring in a dense layer.
  • We cover the herring with the second half of the egg layer and also ram it on the surface. We put the form with a compacted mass on cooling for 1-2 hours or until serving.
