These sugar-coated New Year's cookies are a variation of the famous Thimble cookie. Snowmen can be made in two types - with a body or only in the form of a snowman's head.

Ingredients for shortcrust pastry:

115 g softened butter, 260 g flour, 50 g regular and 50 g brown sugar (or 100 g regular sugar), 1 egg, 1 tbsp. l. milk, 1 packet of vanilla sugar (or 1 tsp vanilla essence), 1 tsp. baking powder, 0.5 tsp. salt.

Ingredients for icing sugar:

160 g powdered sugar, 2 tbsp. milk, 0.5 tsp. vanilla or almond essence (optional), black and orange gel food coloring for decoration.

How to make shortbread cookies “Snowmen”:

  1. Beat the butter with a mixer for 30 seconds. Add sugar, baking powder and salt. Beat until fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla sugar (vanilla essence). Gradually add flour and mix all ingredients until smooth.
  2. Roll the dough into balls about 2cm in diameter. Place the dough balls on a greased or lined baking tray. For snowmen with a body, place 2 balls next to each other. For snowman heads, place 1 ball at a distance of 2 cm from each other. Use your thumb or a round spoon to make an indentation in the center of each ball.
  3. Bake cookies in an oven preheated to 190°C for 7-10 minutes until golden brown. Place the cookies on a wire rack and let them cool.
  4. Make the sugar icing: Grind the sifted powdered sugar with milk to the consistency of thick sour cream. Beat until the mixture becomes white and smooth. If necessary, add vanilla or almond essence to the frosting. Leave the bulk of the prepared sugar icing white. Divide a small portion into two portions. Add 1-2 drops of black food coloring to one portion and orange to the other.

  5. Fill each cavity of the shortbread with white sugar icing and leave to dry for a few hours.
  6. Use colored icing for decoration. Using a piping bag fitted with the smallest tip, use black icing to create buttons, eyes and a mouth for each snowman. Use orange icing to make a carrot nose. Instead of orange frosting for the snowman's nose, you can use candied fruits or mini candies in orange or red. Such a nose must be placed on not completely dry white sugar icing so that it sets.
  7. The icing on the “Snowmen” shortbread cookies should dry completely within a few hours (can be left overnight). Now the cookies are ready! Bon appetit!

Advice. Homemade Christmas cookies can be a great gift. Take a beautiful box or jar, line it with wax paper and place cookies in the container. Decorate the box or jar with a bow or wrap it in holiday packaging. A delicious handmade gift is ready!

Do you remember how we decorated the New Year’s tree as children, how solemnly our parents took out a box of New Year’s toys, with what trepidation and freezing of our hearts we, fearing to drop and break it, unwrapped the fragile glass balls and figurines neatly wrapped in paper? What happened on our Christmas trees - sparkling toys, multi-colored garlands, and candies in gold wrappers...

Today, it is extremely difficult to surprise our children with New Year's toys, given the current abundance, but it is still possible. For example, take and bake wonderful New Year's cookies. It can be a wonderful gift, a delicious treat, or a decoration for the holiday table and New Year tree. After all, there is probably no greater pleasure than decorating a Christmas tree with homemade cookies. And although the range of cookies on sale is large and varied, no factory baked goods can stand up to the originality and taste of homemade cookies, prepared and decorated with your own hands. And what an aroma hovers in the air, mixing with the smell of green pine needles, and creates an atmosphere of comfort, warmth, magic and celebration in the house!

To make festive New Year's cookies, all kinds of molds are used in the form of Christmas trees, stars, men, houses, cones, snowflakes, animals, etc. Such molds can be easily found in retail sales. If you want to do something unusual, but you don’t have the necessary mold at hand, in this case you can cut out a template from cardboard, and use it to cut out whatever you want from the dough. Ready-made New Year's cookies are decorated with sugar or chocolate glaze, confectionery powder, beads and even ready-made sugar figures - there is plenty of all this in our supermarkets.

Of course, you know how to prepare white glaze, but just in case it would be a good idea to recall the recipe: combine 200 g of powdered sugar with the juice of one lemon and the white of a raw egg. Beat the mixture with a mixer until the volume increases 2-3 times. If you decide to decorate the cookies with colorful icing, stock up on the necessary food coloring or use natural ones: replace the lemon juice with various vegetable juices to obtain the desired color. So, by adding beet juice to the glaze, you can get shades from soft pink to lilac. Carrot juice will give an orange color, sage infusion - yellow, spinach or broccoli juice - green, red cabbage juice - blue or blue. To obtain a brown glaze, add 1-2 tbsp. cocoa, and the red tint will come from fresh strawberry juice. Before applying the glaze to the cookies, lightly moisten the surface with water, and after applying the next layer of colored coating, place the baking sheet with the cookies in a hot oven for a few minutes so that the glaze dries faster.

Don't forget to make holes in the cookies so that this yummy treat can be hung on the Christmas tree. To do this, take the thinnest medical syringe and carefully cut off the part to which the needle is attached. Lift the plunger and cut holes into the raw cookies, then simply squeeze the dough out of the syringe and use it to roll out the next batch of cookies.
Choose any of the New Year's cookie recipes we offer, stock up on beautiful baking tins, and then it all depends on your mood and your imagination. And be sure to invite the kids - they love to do magic with their mother in the kitchen!

Happiness and joy in the New Year 2014!

Larisa Shuftaykina

To ensure that your New Year's cookies turn out not only tasty, but also atmospheric and create the appropriate mood, it is better to worry about buying special decorations for them in advance. For example, New Year's powder: all sorts of silver beads, miniature snowflakes and so on. This is, of course, optional, but it will look very cute. New Year's themed molds won't be out of place either: Christmas trees, snowflakes, Santa Claus bags.

The five most commonly used ingredients in New Year's cookie recipes are:

The second stage is choosing the appropriate recipe. It is best to choose not by the appearance of the cookies (after all, we can easily change this appearance), but by the composition of the products. For example, do you want it to be cooked with sour cream or kefir, with or without butter, with or without eggs. Opt for a proven recipe with step-by-step photos. It’s even better if you can ask questions and receive prompt answers on occasion.

If this is your first experience with such baking, then it is better to start with simple shortcrust pastry, which is easy to roll out and does not stick to your hands or the table surface. The same New Year's molds in the form of Christmas trees or gifts are just right here. After baking, take the time to decorate the cookies.

How to decorate Christmas cookies

The easiest way is to make “snow”. That is, prepare a fluffy sugar-protein mass that can be used to “draw” on the surface of the cookies. It is enough just to outline its edges with a thin line to make it elegant and beautiful. To do this you will need a cooking bag or syringe.

Five of the fastest cookie recipes for the New Year:

The second option: making colored glaze, which covers the entire surface of the baked goods.

Sweets help you mentally prepare for winter and deal with depression. Chocolate occupies a special place among them. No wonder they say: it is simply impossible to count the admirers of this product.

First, we arrange a water bath for the chopped chocolate and butter. Bring the chocolate-cream mixture until smooth. In a separate container, using a hand mixer, beat the eggs and both types of sugar until white.

After the chocolate-butter mixture has cooled, carefully stir in the mixture of eggs and sugar.

In another bowl, mix the dry ingredients: flour that has previously passed the sieve test, cocoa and baking powder. Now feel free to add the liquid part of the dough to it. Using a spoon or spatula, stir the dough into a smooth, thick texture.

At the end of cooking the “semi-finished baked goods”, cover the dough with cling film and put it in a cold place for a couple of hours. Only after the mass has hardened should you begin to form cookies.

Let's use a teaspoon: the dough that fits in it will be the required amount for the ball cookie. The approximate diameter of the figure should be about 3 cm.

Before you start baking, roll the balls in powdered sugar. Preheat the oven to 170 degrees.

Line a baking tray with baking paper and arrange the balls, keeping a distance of 2-5 centimeters from each other. Let the gingerbread bake for no more than 10 minutes.

Note: avoid over-baking! The moist interior of the biscuit, covered with a delicate truffle-inspired crust, is the perfect description of the dish.

Tribute to tradition: gingerbread cookies

Gingerbread is a traditional delicacy in Europe. It is customary to treat Santa Claus, who comes on Christmas night, with a glass of warm milk. Nevertheless, ordinary people do not miss the opportunity to enjoy aromatic pastries. To bake “ginger cookies”, stock up on:

  • Wheat flour - 350 g;
  • Soda (ordinary baking soda) - 1 teaspoon;
  • Ground ginger - 2 teaspoons;
  • Ground fragrant cinnamon - 1 teaspoon;
  • Butter (not spread) - 125 g;
  • Brown granulated sugar - 175 g;
  • Chicken egg - 1 pc.;
  • Invert syrup or liquid honey - 4 tbsp. spoons.

First, sift the flour into which we mix the dry ingredients of the recipe: soda, ginger shavings, ground cinnamon.

Pour it into a deep bowl or food processor container, add chopped butter, knead thoroughly with your hands or by force of a machine. When the mixture resembles bread crumbs, add sugar.

Beat the syrup with the egg and add it to the cream-flour mixture and beat (this will take a lot of time manually, so try to find at least a powerful hand mixer).

Form the dough into a ball, wrap it in cling film, and place it in the refrigerator for 10-20 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and line the baking sheets with parchment paper. From the dough rolled out to half a centimeter thickness, cut out cookies of the desired shape. The surface layer of the semi-finished treat should be sprinkled with flour.

Within the next 15 minutes, the sweetness will attract everyone to the kitchen. Covered with a golden brown crust, the baked cookies can be decorated with icing.

Shortbread New Year's cookies

If you want to prepare for the New Year 2017 the most simple delicacy that does not let you down with its gastronomic qualities, then use the standard shortbread recipe.

It includes products:

  • Wheat flour - 200-220 g;
  • Butter (fatty) oil - 150 g;
  • Sugar - 150 g;
  • Chicken egg - 1 pc.;
  • Baking powder - 1 teaspoon;
  • Salt - a little bit.

The first step is to render the fat. While the product melts and cools, you should prepare the egg-sugar mixture: simply grind the eggs with the sweetener until you obtain a white mass.

In the next step, pour the cooled melted butter into the whipped mixture (the temperature can be warm, but not hot, to avoid curdling of the egg white). Mix thoroughly until smooth.

Pour the mixture of the remaining dry ingredients - flour, baking powder and salt - into the resulting batter. To begin with, knead the dough using a spoon, and when it acquires a firmer structure, use hands greased with vegetable oil.

Shortbread dough is similar to noodle dough, however, if you overdo it with flour, the finished dough will not have a rich taste, and its characteristic friability will disappear. Don't forget to cool the mixture in the refrigerator.

Sprinkle the surface of your work surface with flour and roll it out flat. Its thickness should not exceed half a centimeter. Place delicacies of any shape and size on oiled tracing paper lined on a baking sheet. When the tray is full, place it in the oven, preheated to 195-200 degrees. Bake for 8 to 12 minutes.

Note: if you are afraid that the taste of the original shortbread cookies will seem simple to you, dilute the dough with fillings in the form of cinnamon, nuts, candied fruits and other additives.

Sour cream and honey cookies for New Year 2017

A delicious recipe for New Year's cookies will require the availability of products that are not in every refrigerator. Nevertheless, the effort and money spent are worth it: tender, crumbly, truly festive, it will be a worthy competitor to high-calorie cakes. Use:

  • Wheat flour - 600 g;
  • Fat sour cream - 350 g;
  • Butter (not spread) - 100 g;
  • Thick honey - 2 tbsp. spoons;
  • Granulated sugar - 150 g.

The principle of making cookies from a sour cream and honey mixture for the New Year 2017 is extremely simple. Dissolve the honey and sugar portions of the ingredients in melted butter over low heat.

From the rolled out dough 0.5 cm thick, cut out the cookies of the desired shape. Line a tray with baking paper and place the formed treat on it, making sure to leave space between each treat.

The oven temperature should be about 180 degrees, and the total baking time should be from 8 to 15 minutes.

New Year's cookies with spicy flavor

An unusual taste with spicy notes that create the perfect New Year's bouquet of aromas will complement warm winter conversations while drinking tea with good old friends or surrounded by work partners. To prepare spicy pastries you will need:

  • Brown granulated sugar - 170-180 g;
  • Butter (fatty) oil - 100 g;
  • 10% cream - 100 ml;
  • Wheat flour - 400 g;
  • Chicken egg - 1 pc.;
  • Cocoa powder (natural only) - 3 tbsp. spoons;
  • Honey - 3 tbsp. spoons;
  • Baking powder - 2 teaspoons;

Various spicy ingredients are responsible for the gastronomic features of the delicacy. The ideal set will be a bouquet of ground clove seeds, cardamom fruits, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger. Dark chocolate is responsible for the bitter sweetness.

The sequence for preparing spicy New Year's cookies is as follows:

  1. Mix flour and baking powder, sift;
  2. Cut the butter and add it to the flour;
  3. Place sugar, eggs and honey into the same container;
  4. Add spices. Approximate amount: ½ or ¼ teaspoon each;
  5. Knead a homogeneous dough;
  6. Wrap the kneaded dough in cling film and place it in the refrigerator for half an hour;
  7. Dust the table for rolling out the dough with flour;
  8. Roll out a uniform layer of dough. Standard thickness is 5 millimeters;
  9. We form cookies using improvised or special means;
  10. Line a baking sheet with parchment and sprinkle the latter with water;
  11. Place the semi-finished cookies in an oven preheated to two hundred degrees for 5-8 minutes.

Note: avoid browning the spicy delicacy. Over-dried cookies bring little pleasure.

To decorate the cookies, melt the chocolate by creating a water bath; heat the cream and add cocoa to it and bring it to a thickened state. Frost the cookies with thick butter fudge and warm chocolate.

Holiday cookies “Run, Run, Rudolph!”

Deer is an integral part of the New Year's festive extravaganza. He sends a magical sleigh with Santa Claus and gifts to the homes of obedient children.

Rudolph cookies are aimed at the latter: their funny and playful appearance will not leave any little food gourmet indifferent.

To prepare reindeer cookies, stock up on:

  • Wheat flour - 300 g;
  • Chicken egg - 1 pc.;
  • Sugar - 100 g;
  • Butter (fat) - 125 g;
  • Honey - 3 tbsp. spoons;
  • Soda - 1 teaspoon;
  • Orange zest (fresh or dried) and cinnamon;
  • Small pretzels, chocolate chips and M&M's or Skittles.

Add grated orange zest from one fruit (the orange layer turned into shavings using a grater) and cinnamon to melted butter and honey over low heat. Add soda and expect a spectacular chemical reaction: a foamy mass. If this does not happen, add citric acid at the tip of a knife into the oil-honey mass.

In a separate container, mix flour with egg, sweetener and butter-honey mixture. Knead the dough into a homogeneous dough and rest. After 30 minutes at 18-25 degrees, roll out the dough and cut out the desired shapes. Bake in the oven on a baking sheet lined with parchment at 180 degrees for about 8 minutes.

At the end of baking, create horns from pretzels divided in half, eyes from multi-colored Emma's candies, and noses from chocolate drops.

Note: feel free to involve your kids in the cooking process. Creating a herd of “rudolfs” is a creative and interesting activity.
