Where to start

Perhaps it is best to start with the simplest crafts in order to get used to working with salt dough. And this applies not only to children but also to adults. The simplest Easter salt dough craft that does not require any skills at all is Easter eggs, which can be arranged both in the form of a long garland and each separately.

Example #1 Easter Egg Garland

We prepare salt dough, and roll it out in a large layer. Next, cut out an egg-shaped stencil from cardboard - apply it to the rolled out dough, and cut out the molds we need already from the dough. Make a hole at the top of each testicle with a pen or pencil. We send the dough to dry.

After the dough has dried, decorate it and thread a ribbon through the hole. You can tie a beautiful bow and leave the product like that, or you can tie several testicles into a long garland.

Example No. 2: A simple product - a basket

You can also try to make a simple basket with testicles. Ideal for introducing children to modeling.

The estimated size of the basket is 15 by 15 cm. The algorithm of work is as follows:

  1. We take about 100 gr. dough and form the box of the future basket at our discretion.
  2. To add texture to weaving, you can use an ordinary fork. The ornament will not only enliven the future product, but also give it an optimal shape;
  3. From two pieces of 50 gr. roll up two thin long sausages. Approximate length 14 - 16 cm.
  4. It is necessary to twist the blanks together and attach the formed handle to the basket body. Moisten the joints with water.
  5. To make testicles, simply roll smooth balls of similar size.
  6. It is convenient to fashion leaves and flowers from pieces of 5 by 2 cm. Texture can be applied with the blunt side of a knife or a fork, depending on the intended look of the leaves.
  7. We place the eggs in the basket and add other decorative elements.
  8. When attaching each structural element, it is important to moisten the surface of the dough with water for a better connection.

Example #3: An angel holding an egg

  1. We first create a special stencil for the future angel.
  2. Using a stencil, cut out the base of the angel. The thickness of the dough is about 5 mm. Any torn or sharp edges that form must be smoothed out with your hands.
  3. To be sure of the strength of the future figurine, you can create a reinforcement effect with the help of toothpicks. To do this, just place a few toothpicks along the body of the angel, in the direction of the wings and future legs.
  4. Create the legs that will peek out from the mantle. You can make fingers into a stack.
  5. Now you can start decorating the wings. Wing segments are formed from separate pieces of dough and attached to the base. Patterns can be formed using a fork, a pen rod and any other accessories.
  6. The hem of the mantle can be made more realistic and voluminous. To do this, a ribbon is formed from a piece of dough and figuratively attached to the base.
  7. The body of an angel should also be voluminous. This effect can be achieved by using several balls of dough to create a garment for the figurine;
  8. From two pieces of stucco we form sleeves. Where the palms should appear, we make a small indentation;
  9. For believable brushes, we form two “drops” and make fingers with a stack, sculpt them to the recesses in the sleeves.
  10. We roll out the cake for the collar, create a pattern and attach it to the overall structure.
  11. We form a small Easter egg and “hand over” it to the angel in his hands.
  12. We create the head and face absolutely symbolic. It should be appropriate and tidy. Reliability fade into the background.
  13. Hair can be created quite believable. For this we use a garlic press.
  14. We send to dry. Maybe for a battery. Enough 3 hours;
  15. To emphasize the relief, the finished figure is treated with a solution of coffee. Particular attention should be paid to braid, places with intense ornamentation. The finished figurine can be placed as a decor on a shelf or on a table.

What makes this craft attractive is the absence of any strict technological rules and conventions. The recipe according to which it will be formed, salt dough, crafts for Easter, their size, specificity, decor - all this can be created at your discretion, without adhering to particularly strict technology or requirements.

  1. stack or small knife;
  2. a comb for giving specific patterns on the dough;
  3. rolling pin;
  4. pen or pencil (in fact, any object with a rod);
  5. figured devices (for cutting cookies, for example);
  6. any stencils where you can make prints (lace, beads, children's toys, ready-made figures of something, etc.).

On the eve of the most revered and long-awaited holiday of spring, the Resurrection of Christ, Orthodox people manually, with a piece of their soul, make traditional Easter attributes. The bright tradition of creating symbolic unique Easter decorations and gifts is still alive today.

Decorations and souvenirs for Easter are traditionally associated with the main symbols of this holiday: Easter eggs, Easter eggs, Easter cakes, angels, wreaths, baskets and candles. Working on the creation of Easter attributes is a creative and exciting process. Painted and painted eggs are the main symbol of the Resurrection of the Lord. According to the Orthodox tradition, it is with them that the breaking of the fast before the festive feast begins. On this day, the Orthodox exchange colorful eggs with the wishes of good and happiness.

An original Easter egg in the form of a souvenir can be an excellent present that will remind you of its creator for many years. Spectacular eggs can easily be created from embroidery material. Foam blanks for these purposes are sold at retail outlets with goods for needlework. However, you can also make them yourself.

You can also take an empty eggshell as a basis for a souvenir, but because of its fragility, you will have to work with it very carefully. Such blanks are smeared with glue and wrapped, trying to get a certain pattern. The finished product can be decorated with beads, glass beads, buttons, rhinestones or sequins.

Even a beginner can turn foam blanks into a small masterpiece with ordinary sewing pins and sequins.

To do this, the workpiece is pre-painted. Then they stick pins with multi-colored heads into it, after putting sequins on them. This method is very simple and convenient in the sense that there is always the opportunity to correct errors in the work.

Salt dough is the perfect material for Easter souvenirs.

Salt dough can be considered an ideal raw material for creating unique crafts of the author's work. After drying, it becomes very hard and can be stored for many years. From this material, you can create original candlesticks, fancy coasters, souvenir crafts in the form of eggs, Easter cakes and extravagant wreaths decorated with leaves and flowers, echoing the festive spring mood.

To prepare salty stucco dough, you will need the following.

To prepare the stucco mass, you need to mix salt with flour and dilute with cold water. Knead the elastic dough (it is better to use a mixer), gradually introducing vegetable oil into the mixture. A well-mixed mass should be completely homogeneous. It is good to hold the finished modeling material for some time in the refrigerator, and after that it can already be used for modeling.

You can color the stucco mass even during kneading by adding food coloring, egg paint, beet or carrot juice or gouache. And you can also paint ready-made figures using the same gouache or spray paint. However, in this case, it is necessary to paint the products only after they are completely dry. You can dry crafts in two ways: in the oven (at a temperature of 800C) or on a central heating battery.

You can store the remnants of stucco material for several days in a sealed container in the refrigerator.

Volumetric and flat craft options

Modeling a voluminous egg will require a base so that the product dries faster. For this purpose, you can use an empty eggshell, a wad of foil, or a plastic inside from a kinder surprise. There is a reason to make blanks in advance so that they have time to dry well. You can also make a stand for a future souvenir in advance.

The finished salt mass must be molded over the existing base, while forming an egg. This is followed by drying, after which the desired pattern can be applied to the craft, decorated with stucco figures, beads, feathers, etc. It is advisable to varnish the finished product so that the dough does not lose its hardness over time.

But even a child can handle making a flat Easter egg. Moreover, with such crafts you can decorate not only the house inside, but also hang them in the yard. Modeling flat souvenirs will additionally require the following materials:

  • rolling pin;
  • a ruler for measuring the thickness of the rolled layer;
  • mold or stencil;
  • cocktail straw;
  • parchment;
  • twine or ribbon.

Roll out the dough on parchment to a thickness of 5 mm. Next, cut out the blanks of future souvenirs with a mold or stencil. Remove excess material and use cocktail tubes to make holes for the ribbon.

As a decoration on Easter eggs from salt dough, if desired, you can apply a three-dimensional pattern using a lace or guipure napkin. You can draw a pattern with a stick for modeling. Or you can mold a three-dimensional composition from the remnants of stucco material and immediately fix it on the craft. It already remains at the discretion and taste of the author of the work.

Dry the finished products and then paint with spray paint, corrector pen or brush. You can apply dry glitter over the paint. When the paint dries, varnish and wait for the final drying.

At the end of the work, thread ribbons or colored twine into the holes and hang the finished masterpieces on a homemade Easter tree, on the door, or give them to loved ones.

By the way, water can be replaced with jelly made from potato starch (dissolve 1 tablespoon of starch in 1/2 cup of cold water. Then pour 1 more cup of boiled water into this liquid while stirring. When the jelly thickens and becomes transparent, remove from heat. received a paste). From such a replacement, the dough will only benefit - it becomes more plastic.

Just don't overdo it! If the dough is too soft, knead it with a little more flour and salt mixture. Salty dough should be tight.

Now you can sculpt! It is better to sculpt on a baking sheet or a board - this is a good place to dry. Drying itself is carried out at a temperature of + 80C in the oven, for an hour, or on a battery (in winter). Drying time depends on the thickness of the figurine.

If you need color salty dough , then it can be dyed either at the kneading stage using food coloring or gouache, which is convenient when working with young children; or paint the finished product after complete drying.

And in honor of Holy Sunday,
The whole forest is filled with the singing of birds,
Christ is risen! Christ is risen!

Beautifully painted eggs
And glorified God with us!
