  8. To avoid burns, use oven mitts and oven mitts when removing eggs from the microwave.

Step-by-step recipes for cooking eggs in the microwave

How to “cook” in a shell

Compliance with all the rules described above when boiling eggs in a microwave oven does not provide a 100% guarantee that an explosion will not occur. Therefore, if the need does arise, be careful while operating the device and when removing the container with the finished product after the process is completed.

You will need:

  • 2 raw chicken eggs;
  • 1 tablespoon salt;
  • mug with a volume of 300 ml;
  • boiling water.

Cooking steps:

  1. Wash the eggs, place them in a mug or glass, add a tablespoon of salt. Pour boiling water over the eggs and place the container in the microwave.
  2. Set the oven power to 480 W, turn on the device and cook the eggs for 10 minutes. This should be enough time to cook hard-boiled eggs.
  3. Wait 3-4 minutes after the sound signal indicating the end of the cooking process, open the oven and carefully, using oven mitts, remove the mug (glass) with eggs.
  4. Cool the product using cold water.
  5. Peel the eggs from their shells. Ready!

Without shell

Not the best quick way prepare the dish, however, if necessary, you can use it. The idea is to cook the whites and yolks separately, which makes this option practically safe.
You will need:

  • egg;
  • butter or vegetable oil for lubricating dishes.

Cooking steps:

  1. Grease two small microwave-safe containers a small amount creamy or vegetable oil.
  2. Wash and dry an egg (or several, if desired). Carefully crack the shell and separate the white from the yolk, placing each part of the egg in a previously prepared bowl. It is worth noting that you can simplify everything and just beat the whole egg into one container. However, you should know and remember that different parts of the egg cook at different speeds, so there is a risk of getting undercooked whites and overcooked, rubbery yolks.
  3. Using a knife, fork or toothpick, pierce the yolk. The thin shell of this part of the egg can withstand great pressure and then explode in an instant, staining everything around and even harming your health.
  4. Cover each plate cling film so that it does not touch the product itself.
  5. Cook the whites using your microwave on low to medium power. Taking into account the fact that this product is prepared quite quickly, and the cooking time depends not only on the size of the number of eggs, but also on the individual characteristics of each appliance, cook the whites and yolks in short intervals of 20–30 seconds. On average, it will take 30-60 seconds for one protein, and 45-75 seconds for two. In addition, proteins have the ability to cook due to their own temperature, so it is better to remove them from the microwave even when they seem slightly undercooked.
  6. In the same way as with the whites, using low to medium power, cook the yolk. This will take you 20–30 seconds.
  7. Leave the finished product for 2-3 minutes, then check for readiness. If necessary, you can put the eggs in the microwave again, for no more than 10–20 seconds.

  7. Transfer the finished poached egg to a plate using a slotted spoon.
  8. Season the finished snack with ground black pepper and a little salt. Bon appetit!

Well, tell me, who would think of cooking scrambled eggs in the microwave? What do we usually do with this kitchen appliance? In my family, it has so far been used exclusively for heating or thawing. But cooking? I can cook pretty well on the stove too!

A friend who came with her husband to a new place of work made me think about microwave recipes. While they were furnishing the empty apartment, they had to live for a couple of weeks in a dorm with only a microwave. That’s how it happened that one person who knows how to use a stove very well once asked another person who also knows how to use a stove well: “Listen, what can you cook in the microwave?” And then we both realized that we couldn’t cook ANYTHING in it!!!

Well... how, at the age of six, my acquaintance with gas stove I started with cooking scrambled eggs, so I decided to start getting acquainted with microwave recipes by cooking scrambled eggs too.

Our portion will be substantial, for 2 eggs. And I took the rest of the ingredients exactly the same with which I prefer scrambled eggs on the stove: bacon and tomatoes. And, of course, salt and pepper. In general, everything is absolutely familiar. You can take any set of what is familiar to you.

We cut off the skin of the bacon and cut out the cartilage, if any. It will spend too little time in the microwave for both to become soft. Cut the bacon into cubes.

Place the bacon in a bowl designed for use in a microwave oven (that is, definitely not metal, but made of plastic or ceramic). Fry at 800 watts for 1 minute. This results in lightly cooked bacon. By the way, if you don’t like cleaning your microwave from splashes, you can close the container from above.

While the bacon is frying, cut the tomatoes into quarters.

Fry the tomatoes and bacon at 800 watts for 1 minute. Stir to coat the tomatoes with bacon salt.

Pour the eggs over the bacon and tomatoes. 2 eggs with this amount of filling reach the stage of readiness that you see in my photo ready-made dish, at 800 watts in 3 minutes. But we must not forget that with a different amount of food, the cooking time for scrambled eggs in the microwave may be different. So just look through the door (from a distance, of course) when the squirrels turn white. I could see it very clearly against the background of red tomatoes.

Well, add salt and pepper to taste.

What can I say? Perfect scrambled eggs, actually! Soft bacon, tomatoes that didn't fall apart, nothing burnt, delicate consistency. The only thing I was missing was a crispy edge around the edges.

Do you think it is possible to boil an egg in the microwave? Is it worth getting involved in this process at all or is it better to use the good old saucepan? Now we will try to tell you about all this in detail.

For some reason, it is generally accepted that eggs and microwaves are as ardent enemies as, say, milk and cucumbers. From a physics point of view, this is indeed true, but it is still possible to cook them in any microwave oven: for example, by filling them with water and salting them without peeling them.

It is also possible to cook without shells: then finished product It won't be spherical, but it will still be edible.

The instructions for any microwave oven will definitely contain a clause not to cook eggs in it. However, if you approach this smartly, you can get by without any visible problems. There are a few little things to remember:

How to boil eggs in the microwave in their shells

Hard-boiled

To make hard-boiled eggs, place each in a single layer in a bowl. There is no need to put the eggs on top of each other: try to make sure that the entire bottom of the bowl is covered with them - there is no need to break them. Some chefs, however, recommend cooking one egg at a time: it is believed that this reduces the risk of explosion.

Fill the eggs with water until it completely covers them. Choose the water temperature yourself, but if it is boiling water, they will cook faster. There should be at least 1 cm of water above the surface.

If you don't do this, they may burst - but you shouldn't overdo it by pouring a full bowl either.

Cook at medium power, about 10-12 minutes. If you set the power higher, the eggs will be ready in 6 minutes. If your microwave is powerful enough, do not set the power above 400 W - only later, when a similar method has been tested, you can experiment with time. Until then, it is best to follow the instructions.

To tell if the eggs are cooked, take one of them, put it in cold water and wait until it cools. Then break it and taste it.

Soft-boiled cooking

If you are preparing a soft-boiled product, you need to turn off the microwave a little earlier. In all other respects, the principle of operation is similar: the egg is placed in a bowl or glass, filled with water, and salted. Again, you shouldn’t set the power to high to avoid taking risks.

If the product is poured with boiling water, then cooking takes 3-5 minutes, if cold water – 5-7.

The temperature of the egg itself is also important - if it is at room temperature, it will cook faster than if it was just taken out of the refrigerator.

It is better to cook several pieces at different time intervals in order to understand exactly under what conditions the ideal result is obtained.

If a crack appears, the product cannot be cooked further.

How to boil an egg without a shell in the microwave

It is also not forbidden to cook a shelled egg. This method does not use water, so it is often called “dry”, but, in essence, it is the same hard-boiled egg. This method is somewhat safer.

It is advisable to grease the bowl in advance butter or margarine.

After peeling the egg, you need to separate the yolk and white. To do this, carefully break it and pour the yolk from one half to the other until it is completely separated from the white. If you have several eggs, you can collect all the yolks (don't forget to pierce them!) in one bowl and the whites in another.

Yes, this method is harder and more painstaking than the usual one, but it allows you to cook both at the desired hardness - the whites and yolks are cooked at different speeds.

Cover the plates with cling film so that it does not touch the food. If you don't have it, you can use parchment or wax paper.

You should cook on low or medium power, because it is very easy to overdo it and make the eggs simply inedible. It is not easy to control the cooking process, and therefore it is better to divide it into intervals and check from time to time whether it is ready or not, and take notes for the future.

It will take from 20 to 30 seconds to cook the yolk, depending on the power of the microwave oven. It is better to remove the bowl from the microwave at the moment when it seems that the dish is not yet fully cooked: the yolk is designed in such a way that the internal temperature will “cook” it even after you remove it from the microwave oven.

It is impossible to soften a finished egg, and therefore it is better to wait than to make it rubbery and tasteless.

Be careful and cooking eggs in the microwave will be not only fast, but also safe.

Have you already encountered the danger of eggs exploding in a microwave oven? How to boil eggs in the microwave without loss and is this acceptable if the instructions do not allow cooking eggs in the microwave?

Is it possible to boil eggs in the microwave?

The achievement of civilization in the form of a microwave oven simplifies our life: cooking is many times faster, easier and more convenient than in the oven, slow cooker and on the stove. Every day we heat food using a microwave oven, bake, boil and fry.

It is useless to start from documents to the stove, because the instructions contain a strict prohibition due to the explosion hazard of the product. A completely logical question arises: how to cook eggs without exploding and preserving food and taste properties. We answer: it is allowed to boil and fry, in the shell, in a bag, and without the shell.

The main thing in the matter is to comply with safety requirements. By following the recommendations from the article, you will avoid troubles and general cleaning of the stove. Egg dishes prepared using this method are considered dietary (depending on additional ingredients): they are lush, low-calorie and tender, which is why both adults and children love them. The variety of recipes numbers in the dozens.

Why does an egg burst?

The assurance from grandparents that the explosion is due to the toxicity of the microwave oven is 100% unfounded. The product is heated from the inside, and the egg is protected from external influences by a dense shell. It heats up very quickly, the pressure under the shell instantly reaches a possible peak, and it bursts. Why is an explosion dangerous?

  • the microwave may give you an electric shock;
  • stove breakdown due to the preparation of prohibited products is the most common reason for returning equipment to service centers and stores;
  • There is a risk of burns due to non-compliance with safety precautions.

Pay attention to the video in which the explosion was first filmed quail egg, then chicken, and then even ostrich.

We hope that curiosity will be calmed and you will not attempt to repeat the guys’ experiment in your oven at home:

What to consider before boiling eggs in the microwave?

  1. Only special dishes should be used (marked “microwave suitable”).
  2. If the product is being cooked, do not interrupt the process by opening the oven door. If the egg explodes, the boiling yolk and white may splatter the second you decide to peek.
  3. After removing eggs from the refrigerator, do not immediately cook them: this will bad idea and it will definitely burst.
  4. Do not cover the container with eggs with foil. This will ruin your oven.
  5. It's better not to heat it up ready eggs in a shell in a microwave oven. If the dish has cooled, peel it and cut it in half, then you can reheat it.

Take our advice into account, then boiling eggs will end in a pleasant dinner, and not in scrubbing the walls of the microwave and treating burns.

How to boil an egg in the microwave in its shell

Boiling an egg in its shell in a microwave dish is absolutely not difficult: it is only important that you have a suitable container that is designed for this type of oven and will not burst due to high heat. Both a plastic container and a glass bowl will do. The main thing is the mark “for microwave” (look at the markings on the bottom of the container).

Another condition for successful cooking is to add water so that it completely covers the eggs. Add more than necessary, but don't get carried away. Make water 0.5-1 centimeter above the level of the eggs. Then it will boil faster and the process will go faster.

Important: We have already focused on this, but it is worth repeating again. Do not cook eggs in their shells “dry”. They will explode 99 out of 100%.

Recipe for cooking hard-boiled eggs in the microwave

What we need:

  • eggs washed in running water with a food-safe detergent;
  • salt;
  • water is the same temperature as the eggs; you cannot play with the contrast of heat and cold.

What to do to prepare?

Place the product in a container. It is better to place them side by side so that they do not hit each other when the water boils. You should also not put eggs in several rows; it is better to spend a little time and separate required quantity eggs in two stages of cooking. Pour water 0.5-1 centimeter above the level of the eggs and add a spoonful of salt (to prevent the white from leaking if the eggs crack. To hard boil eggs in the microwave, set the power to medium or medium-high. If the water is cold, set the time to 10- 13 minutes If the eggs were at room temperature and the water was hot, 7-8 is enough After cooking, carefully drain the boiling water and replace it ice water– this will make it easier for you to peel the eggs and cool them faster for lunch.

How to boil an egg in the microwave without the shell

Recipe No. 1: baked egg

Break the egg into a microwave-safe container, lightly salt it if necessary. It is better to lubricate the bottom of the container with a drop of oil so that the product does not become tightly welded to it. It is better to set the power to not medium-high and turn on the oven for 50-70 seconds. Baked egg will be ready very quickly. If you wish, you can remove it a little earlier so that the yolk remains slightly runny. Here you cannot overcook the dish in the oven; you need to remove it before the yolk is overcooked and explodes.

Recipe No. 2: egg in a bag

This is a unique way of cooking delicious dish"poached egg" Microwave the water in the container to warm it up. Meanwhile, prepare the “semi-finished product” from eggs. For this option for preparing eggs without shells, you will need regular small bags for food products, a few drops of vegetable oil, salt if desired and eggs. Each bag (quantity 1 piece per 1 egg) is greased with oil, “stuffed” with an egg and tied with a loose knot. Then the workpieces are immersed in boiling water for 2-3 minutes at medium microwave power (the tails of the bags should stick out). Afterwards, remove the bags and cool slightly. The knot is easy to cut, but you can accidentally burn yourself with hot steam. Be careful!
